We believe Phoenicians deserve a city where walking, biking, and transit are comfortable and convenient.
关于我们
We are leading Phoenix's urbanist movement. Originally formed in 2011 as the Thunderdome Neighborhood Association for Non-Auto Mobility, we changed our name to The Urban Phoenix Project in 2016. We promote urbanism through education, local action, and participation in municipal zoning, transportation, and policy decisions. In doing so, we are creating a healthier, more sustainable, more fiscally resilient, and more equitable city for our fellow Phoenicians both current and future.

I'm sorta in love with Phoenix and its advocacy community now. These kinds of groups, just grassroots folks trying to improve their communities, have my hearts forever. So many great cities in this country. So much worth fighting for.
? Last Night at The Newton ? Thanks to everyone who came out for An Evening with Angie Schmitt! Her book, "Right of Way: Race, Class, and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America," highlights the need for better transportation infrastructure and policy throughout the U.S. After the presentation, we enjoyed a panel discussion with our own Nicole R., Emily Yetman of Living Streets Alliance and Angie Schmitt, led by David Longoria of LISC Phoenix. Thank you to our event partners, LISC Phoenix and Arizona Partnership for Healthy Communities. ??

??? We are delighted to see the two-way protected bikeway proposed for Fillmore Street! We'd love to see added infrastructure to ensure vehicles stay out of the bikeway. Removing the option for vehicles to turn right on red at Fillmore & 1st Street would also be ideal since that will be a complicated intersection, with the bikeway transitioning to traditional bike lanes on both sides of the street. Want to give your feedback on the design? Take the survey by November 24: https://shorturl.at/IEpPy. You can learn more about the project and proposed design at https://lnkd.in/gSEAfCiC.

Essential infrastructure
Bike lanes benefit more than just bikers. A new Rutgers University study found that bicycle lanes in New Jersey considerably slowed motor vehicle speeds. While the improvement was largest with delineated lanes, even painted lanes had an impact. Slower vehicle speeds improve safety for people on two wheels by addressing one of the most common collisions, but they also help protect everyone on the road. Simple, more affordable projects like this are essential to getting to zero traffic deaths.

Principal at Rovélo Creative creativebyrovelo.com reMarketing our streets. Creative/Content/Strategy. Lectures/Workshops
Years ago we had the mayor bike to school with my 6 year old, within the first :30 seconds they were almost hit by a driver on live TV. Every leader should be required to ride a bike (if able) with a 6 year old before they provide any direction on bike infrastructure. This was part of our Commuting With Council campaign.

Today we are delighted to highlight one of our board members, Nicole Marquez! A long-time resident of the Valley of the Sun and a public-school parent, Nicole recognized long ago that sustainable planning and educational equity are critical if we want our future generations to thrive. Community building is a key part of this work, and that's why she founded the Creighton Academy Parent Teacher Organization. She was also recently elected to the Creighton Elementary School District Governing Board. In addition to her passion for community building, Nicole has an extensive background in public relations, administration, board leadership and event planning. Through her work, Nicole hopes to improve the quality of life for all those living in the Valley.
