Urban Pathways CEO, Fred Shack, is quoted in a recent article discussing the uncertainty around federal grant funding for homeless services organizations in New York City. The Trump administration’s abrupt changes to federal contracts, including the removal of the "housing first" model, have raised concerns among providers like Urban Pathways. “If that money were to go away, it is going to have a significant impact on our ability to provide the same level of service,” said Shack. This shift in federal policy could have significant impacts on vital services like case management, health & wellness education, and more. Despite changes, Urban Pathways is committed creating a New York where everyone has a safe place to call home. Read the full article below. https://lnkd.in/eS-ZJrHJ

It’s been incredibly rewarding to receive such amazing feedback on Total Wellness, the MI initiative, and the work being done at Urban Pathways! Romi Avin and Jose Cotto, LCSW, you both rocked it!
Honored to Present at the AAGP Conference! I had the incredible opportunity to present alongside Dr. Sidor and Jose Cotto, LCSW at the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) Conference, where we proudly represented Urban Pathways Inc.. Our session, "Enhancing Total Wellness for Older Adults Facing Serious Mental Illness, Homelessness, and Chronic Disease: A Strength-Based and Person-Centered Approach," focused on the importance of holistic care and innovative strategies to support older adults navigating complex challenges. It was an inspiring experience to engage with professionals dedicated to geriatric mental health, homelessness prevention, and chronic disease management. We emphasized the fortitude and resilience required to address these critical issues while advocating for comprehensive, person-centered solutions that empower individuals to thrive. A huge thank you to Urban Pathways Inc., AAGP, and everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. Grateful to be part of such important work! #AAGP #GeriatricMentalHealth #UrbanPathways #TotalWellness #SocialServices #MentalHealth #StrengthBasedApproach #PersonCenteredCare #HomelessnessPrevention #ChronicDiseaseManagement #Leadership #Advocacy #HealthcareInnovation #Management

Last month, the Supportive Housing Network of New York hosted their 2024 Tenant of the Year Nominee Celebration. This breakfast celebrates the dedication, resilience, and achievements of tenants who have shown exceptional growth and made a positive impact within their supportive housing residences and the broader community. We congratulate Urban Pathways resident Mr. Jarrett, who was honored as a Tenant of the Year nominee. Mr. Jarrett received recognition for his achievements this year and had the opportunity to share his experiences. At the end of the breakfast, Urban Pathways resident and advocate Will Woods presented about the Homeless Protections Act, ending with a call of action to support the legislation. Thank you to all the inspiring nominees and the supportive staff who help make these journeys possible. Your stories are a testament to perseverance and hope.
