This pivotal moment in history reminds us that our right to vote was secured through immense sacrifice — paid for with literal blood.

From Training to Transformation: A Success Story in Action! When Kelly R. called Michael and Sons to repair his HVAC unit, he had no idea he’d be greeted by one of our own—Ryan Robertson, a Fall '24 HVAC Graduate! We are excited to highlight the work of one of our long-term grantees, Urban League of Central Carolinas, which has a long history of uplifting, supporting and empowering Black and Brown communities in the Charlotte region. A major highlight of ULCC's work since its founding almost 50 years ago is its tuition-free workforce development programs. They provided more than 300 individuals last year with practical hard skills training and job placement support in high-need industries with longer-term career and wage growth potential, including Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), Nursing and Electrical Careers. ULCC is a local leader in workforce development helping vulnerable families achieve social and economic mobility, and we are proud to support their work. On the panel for Red Ventures Kindred’s 6th Annual Uplift Panel, our President, Robyn Lake Hamilton joined an extraordinary group of trailblazing men and women for an insightful conversation on the power of Black culture, the significance of community, and the defining moments that shape Black identity. Through personal stories and thought-provoking discussions, the panel explored the resilience, impact, and collective responsibility of embracing and uplifting Black voices. It was an inspiring exchange of wisdom, experiences, and empowerment—one that reinforced the importance of unity, representation, and authenticity.
