We recently spent some time with Denver District 8 City Councilwoman Shontel M. Lewis and her team, on a tour of the Mosaic Community Campus, at the edge of the South Park Hill and East Colfax neighborhoods. Councilwoman Lewis has personal connections to many of the orgs on the campus; we shared how these organizations complement and enrich each other and the community through education, job training, affordable housing and more. Thank you for spending time with us, Councilwoman!

ULC and other local affordable housing developers supported Lakewood's effort to amend its open space ordinance, which had brought all housing in the city to a halt. Lakewood brought back a common-sense fee-in-lieu option, and also an exemption for 100%-affordable-housing developments. Thanks to our friends at Neighborhood Development Collaborative for their leadership in advocating for these changes.
Controversial greenspace ordinance used by developers will be revamped in Lakewood

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education." ? In historic Centennial Hall on the Mosaic Community Campus in Denver, St. Elizabeth’s School leads the way in developing students’ intelligence and character through its social justice education program. ? St. Elizabeth's teacher Brian Jackson explains, “In our social justice program here at St. E's, our foundational piece is exercising and developing the skill of listening to understand, as opposed to listening to respond." ? Today, we're thinking of Dr. King's legacy and message about education and character. Our community's future is bright with strong educators and students like those at St. E's and beyond. ?
