Last week, UHI's Shannon Hogan and Kristin Uiterwyk travelled to San Diego to help run and present at the 7th conference of the National Working Waterfront Network. More than 200 people attended to share and learn about topics such as workforce development, impacts of climate change, planning and regulatory initiatives, programs to reduce emissions, and more. As we continue to tackle the needs and opportunities of working waterfronts, we are excited to have met so many smart and dedicated partners in this space. Many thanks to all who sponsored and attended the event -- especially our hosts at California Sea Grant.
This is a great opportunity for graduate students! Please share with those who may be interested.

UHI is assisting the Town of Mashpee in developing a harbor management plan. Among other goals, the hope is that the plan will help rebuild wetlands and food sources (via fishing, etc.) for the Wampanoag tribe, once largely excluded from environmental decision-making.
