This week, Senator Elizabeth Warren announced the introduction of the American Housing and Economic Mobility Act, a federal bill that would direct nearly $550 billion to help address the national housing shortage. Standing with Urban Edge and over 30 Massachusetts mayors, Warren emphasized the rapid rise in the cost of housing and need for the government to be a partner with state governments and local municipalities to make a dent in the housing crisis.
Urban Edge is proud to stand as a partner with the senator in this robust effort that aims to finance, produce, and/or renovate roughly three million units, which would make a significant impact to the affordable housing market. We thank the senator for taking the time to meet with many mayors and municipality leaders leading up to this announcement, which has helped guide the language in this bill to make sure federal dollars make immediate local impact.
