关于我们
Urban Community School strives to break social and economic barriers to success for Cleveland's near west side children by providing an individualized, innovative, and challenging education. Rooted in the Ursuline Sisters’ tradition of faith, character, and educational excellence, UCS engages our faculty, families, and community partners in the successful whole child development of our students. UCS currently serves nearly 750 students from six weeks to 14 years old (8th grade). Approximately 80% of our families receive significant financial support and 75% of our students qualify for the National School Lunch Program. Urban's campus is expanding as we move forward and grow the services that our children and families need and deserve. The future is bright with the continued growth and evolution of our wraparound services. Our on-campus partners include The MetroHealth System, Urban Squash Cleveland, Re:Source Cleveland (formerly The Refugee Response), Facing History and Ourselves, House of Champions, and USA Lacrosse. Urban is transforming our campus into a safe haven for our children and their families.

Room 212 had an unforgettable experience participating in Jarrett Allen’s Meals and Math program, thanks to Cavs Care! Each 4th grader went on a Thanksgiving shopping spree, using big calculators to budget and ensure they stayed within their limits. A huge thank you to Jarrett Allen and the Cavs for making this meaningful opportunity possible! #UCSpride

As an end to their Contact Forces unit, Mrs. Counihan's middle school enrichment class created egg cases out of mostly recycled items in order to have an egg drop at the school's red glass tower balcony. Most of the cases were successful! #UCSpride

Dear UCS Community, It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved teacher and friend, Courtney Kuhl. She passed away on Thursday, November 7 of natural causes. “Ms. Courtney” was a cherished member of our UCS family, a dedicated educator, and a compassionate presence for our students and staff. Courtney’s journey with us began years ago as a student teacher, and she quickly became a vital part of our school community. Over the years, she impacted hundreds of students as a teacher, coach, mentor, and steadfast advocate of our mission. Her warmth, dedication, and friendship touched so many, leaving a legacy of kindness and resilience that we will carry with us. You can view her obituary here: https://bit.ly/ckuhl2024. Please join us in keeping Courtney’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for her kindness, passion, and the lasting impact she had on our students and colleagues. With a profoundly heavy heart, Tom Gill President, Urban Community School
