The Base Crew is working on an exciting new commission for Fusion Drinking Fountains, a company dedicated to revolutionizing public hydration through innovative outdoor drinking fountains. Fusion Drinking Fountains feature interchangeable art panels. According to founder Cody Jones: “Fusion was built to address multiple needs with one simple solution: reliable hydration, a platform for public art, and a way to invest in local talent and economic growth. ??? BASE CREW YOUTH MURALS AT INSCAPE! ??? Base Crew youth have been given an opportunity to paint their very own mural inside the Inscape Arts Building, a historic former immigration building now home to an eclectic mix of arts and cultural organizations and the Urban ArtWorks studio. The youth will get to design and paint their own wall in the building gaining skills on how to tackle an entire wall on their own. You can see their murals at the Inscape OPEN STUDIO EVENT: ??? Urban ArtWorks wrapped a project in City of Redmond, WA, next to Marymoor park, in partnership with Quarterra Group. Located near the Piper Apartments, and we worked with two amazing Seattle-based artists, Yale Wolf and Baso Fibonacci, who transformed an “unsightly” yet functional structure into an inspiring, artistic experience. Each installation features a rectangular tube with louvers and a roof, adorned with neon lighting, a mirror, charred PNW wood, and hand-painted local flora. The patterns and colors invite viewers of all ages to engage up close or from afar. This hybrid artwork brings mural and sculpture together for a moment. #UrbanArtWorks #SeattleArt #PublicArt #PiperProject #SupportTheArts

???? CID MAP youth apprentices had a visit from Cricket Richards, Clinic Manager at Harborview Medical Center. Cricket visited the Urban ArtWorks studio in the CID to share some valuable insights. Cricket spoke with the apprentices about the themes and concepts they hope to see in the mural that will soon welcome people in the 3rd Ave Center lobby. Apprentices are now preparing designs with Teaching Artists Ego Shoreclay @lordego1 and Asha Helmstetter @artsyasha for three interior panels, each measuring 8 x 12 feet. Their next steps are creating a mural for everyone who walks through Harborview’s doors. ?? Earlier this fall, we completed a mural at Totem Lake Park, commissioned by the City of Kirkland (@kirklandgov). ?? This mural was created by artist Burcu Koleli (@burcukoleli) and painted with the help of our amazing volunteers! We transformed a shared community office into a reminder of how we can all make a difference by keeping resources out of the landfill. ?? The mural encourages repair, reuse, recycling, and thoughtful consumption, aligning with King County's Re+ Plan to reduce our environmental impact. ?? ??? ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Nahom Ghirmay ??? ??Meet Nahom Ghirmay @nahom_artsy, an Urban ArtWorks Teaching Artist and collaborator. From guiding youth through their first murals to crafting his own art that bridges diverse backgrounds, Nahom says; “I believe public art plays a crucial role in fostering a culture that celebrates creativity and connection. It transforms public spaces into platforms for dialogue and reflection, encouraging communities to engage with important social issues.
