Ka?a recently took a look at the latest LinkedIn tips from Buffer and Later.? Here's what she found will guide the LinkedIn algorithm (and your audience) toward thinking you're pretty dang cool: ?? Tell a story? Telling a story on social will always be a winner. But especially on LinkedIn, folks want to see relevant industry content that digs deeper and brings their work to life. You could share why you started your business, how you became a trusted resource in your field (a lot of our stories are not linear and interesting for that reason alone), or something you've been learning about recently to help you show-up in an even bigger way for your audience. ?? Always include a photo or video Gone are the days of plain text posts on LinkedIn. While you can of course still post just text, if you want more engagement, including a visual will make folks more likely to stop scrolling and see what you have to say.? Which of these strategies are you interested in trying first? Share your thoughts below! ?? And don't forget to sign up for Social Media Snack Break, and get the rest of the scoop about LinkedIn on Tuesday! #LinkedIn #SocialMediaMarketingTips #PDXSmallBusiness #ContentCreation #Algorithm

You know what? The actions of our current administration are a great driving force to double down on your ethical business practices.? Let’s use their moral failings to fuel your work:? ? Speaking of democracy (or lack thereof), adopt a more democratic decision-making process to give every voice on your team equal space and time to be heard and valued. ? Don’t just track KPIs–track the impact your business is making in your community. Who knows, maybe your business could really benefit from adding a quarterly community day where your team volunteers together, or it might be time to start making a regular donation to a few of your favorite nonprofits. ? ? And, avoid participating in false scarcity or FOMO tactics as much as you possibly can.? What ethical business practices have you added to your business recently? Let me know in the comments.? #PDXSmallBusiness #EthicalBusiness #Anticapitalist #Democracy #MarketingStrategyForSmallBusiness

Have you noticed your follower count dipping as folks jump ship to head over to Bluesky? But you still want to hang out on Instagram or Facebook because you’ve built up a solid following there? I get it.? No matter how much Meta sucks right now – you’re right to be cautious about throwing in the towel on all the hard work you put in to build up your accounts.? Instead think strategically about how to increase your reach on Instagram and Facebook to find folks who are still hanging out there.? 1) Need some background music for the Reel you’re putting together? Use one of Instagram’s suggested “trending” audios – if it matches your brand – to help increase your content’s reach.? 2) Create content that folks either want to Save for later for themselves, OR share with a friend or colleague (or both!). Creating lists of resources, tools, or things you love, is a great place to start. 3) Include captions in your Reels. This is not just a considerate thing to do to ensure your Reels are more accessible – including captions also provides the algorithm with an extra nugget of information to tell it what your Reel is all about and who might find it helpful.? 4) Share your Reels in your stories to get more eyes on your content. 5) Clean up your templates – the simpler, the better. The faster folks can see what your piece of content is about, the more likely they’ll stick around.? #Meta #PDXSmallBusiness #ContentCreation #Accessibility #Algorithm

????? We made it to March, y'all, and I am sure looking forward to more days with sunshine, plants growing, and flowers opening up as the Earth wakes up from its winter sleep. It's a welcome reminder that no matter how distressing the actions of our current administration might be, nature continues to forge ahead and build with what’s available… and so can we, when we mutually support each other.? With that in mind… how are YOU doing as we head into spring? Is there:? Any support that your business needs? An event you're hosting soon that you'd like to promote? A special offering you want to share with folks here? Or a particular partner you'd like to give a shout-out to? Hey, there! I'm Ka?a – your Social Media + Content Savant. I use my innate writing talent and data-hungry nerd brain to create made-for-you content that gets your audience excited to engage with your business or nonprofit. Each month I review how your content is performing and share my recommendations for how we can optimize your social further. When I'm not at my desk, I'm making @coffeeseesters Reels with my sister, hiking with my cat Eleanor Rigby in Forest Park, making colorful illustrations on my ipad, or writing the novel I've been working on for many MANY years, and of course, devouring all there is to learn about adult Autism & ADHD (@hayley.honeyman has been a great resource). #MarketingAgency #PDXSmallBusiness #PortlandOregon #SocialMediaManager #ContentStrategy

Maybe y'all heard – but Google may be breaking up!? Concerns about Google becoming a monopoly have led the U.S. Department of Justice to consider breaking up the tech giant.? Google already updates its online marketing tools on the regular, so, luckily, the potential changes ahead might not be too jarring.? Still, with that in mind, I wanted to give y'all a quick refresher on how to get SEO going on your website to get more eyeballs on your offerings. 1) Identify the keywords you want to rank for by using Google's Keyword Planner, and then weave those keywords into the copy on relevant pages of your website.? 2) Just like you would on social media, create content that answers the question currently plaguing your audience and guide them towards a real-deal solution. (a.k.a. keeping it relevant!) 3) Make sure your Google My Business profile is up to snuff! Ask past clients to leave you a Google review. Upload those team and workspace photos you had taken recently. Think about what information is still missing from your profile that’s easy to knock out, and add it to your profile.? ? ? And if your website needs a little extra love, set up a consultation with me and my team to chat about how we can build you the website of your dreams!? #MarketingAgency #PDXSmallBusiness #Google #WebsiteSEO #KeywordResearch

???? It's winter and the government continues to do bad faith things left and right. I'm tired, and I know you are too, but we can’t let despair take control of us.? So, let's lighten the mood and get you noodling on how you can make impactful and positive changes, without dipping into your energy reserves too much. ?? Here are 3 easy ways you can make your business more inclusive – like right now – and show your community + team more love: 1) Host a recurring volunteer day with your team to give back to your community 2) Make sure your website and any print materials are as accessible as possible. (Is the font readable? Do the colors provide enough contrast? Is it easy to find information?) 3) Promote learning opportunities that encourage your team to expand skills, and build inclusive and anti-racist practices. Got some other ideas you’d like to share? Drop them below! Let’s turn this into a little brainstorming session.? #EthicalBusiness #Volunteering #CommunitySupport #WebAccessibility #WorkCulture
