War gaming is the best 2 hour exercise any CEO or business owner can do a few times a year. I got the honor to speak about this practice during one of our podcast seasions recently. In Q4, we war gamed tariffs hitting our supply chain. Where do we have exposure? How would it impact us? what steps could we take to mitigate any effect on our clients? We laid out our game plan and placed in the drawer. Well in late January/early February when tariffs were announced, we sprung to action since we already had our plan in place. In recent days, I’ve heard peers and competitors fret about the potential impact of these tariffs. Im not here to debate merits or miscalculation of the tariffs, as I’m not equipped to debate. However, while our competitors are scrambling and forshadowing price increases, we are cooling our heels knowing we were prepared, our plan launched into action, our supply chain locked up, and price protection in place for our clients. If you are not war gaming your business at least twice a year, you will be unprepared when the inevitable happens. Better to not use a plan, than not to have one at all. Take a listen…
