Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, & Inclusion Month (JDAAIM) is observed every February and was established in 2009 by the Jewish Special Education International Consortium. At UpStart, we celebrate and support people with disabilities daily using tools like the newly launched Program Accessibility Checklist, created in-house by Ari Fernandez – our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice Manager. Black Histories & Futures Month is February! Since 1976, every U.S. President has officially recognized Black History Month, but its origins date back to 1915, thanks to historian Carter G. Woodson. In 2015, the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) introduced Black Futures Month, offering a modern lens on this annual observance. This month is a time to honor Black history, reflect on the resilience of Black communities, and envision a future rooted in justice and liberation. At UpStart, we proudly celebrate both Black histories and Black futures, amplifying the strength and contributions of the Black community.
