关于我们
Located in Concrete, Washington, the Upper Skagit Library empowers our community by creating opportunities, fostering connections, and providing resources, while committing ourselves to the highest standards of librarianship. We are committed to serving and inspiring our diverse community. We foster empowerment, leadership, and creativity by providing safe and inclusive spaces and resources. We are dedicated to continuous learning and being open to new points of view, and to encouraging our community to share in that philosophy. In 2022 we identified four core values which will guide our actions and plans for the future: Education for All; Community Engagement; Stewardship; fostering Safe, Welcome, and Open Spaces. We believe that the library is and should be a center of collaborative education in the community. We value collaborative long-term partnerships and will work to form and maintain them. We aim to be good stewards of the resources in our community. We prioritize fostering safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments that allow everyone in our diverse community to use and enjoy the library and its resources. Next Tuesday at 4pm! Northwest Youth Services/NWYS Queer Youth Services will be at the library doing a presentation on the name changing process in Skagit County, including the forms, payments, and court dates you'll need to know about. If you have any questions or need help they'll also be able to give support as needed! This presentation is open to all ages, but is probably best for those older than 12.

We have two poets in Vol. 1 of the Upriver Young Authors Program book; the second is April, who contributed 5 works to the collection. Fanciful poet April guides us through night skies, time, and our own minds, as well as looks deep into our eyes while speaking French with her poems, which may be short in length but paint such vivid images we'll feel like we're in her magical world right by her side. Hear April read some of her poems this Saturday, Feb. 15th, from 3-5pm during our Q&A and Book Signing event!

We have two poets in Vol. 1 of the Upriver Young Authors Program book; the first is Sarah, who contributed 14 works to the collection. Sarah's poems don't shy away from the tough topics, but her words are filled with sincerity and compassion as she speaks to family members and friends with understanding and inquisitiveness. Many of Sarah's poems are filled with a nostalgic wistfulness for parts of her childhood while others look to the future with determination and optimism. Hear Sarah read some of her poems this Saturday, Feb. 15th, from 3-5pm during our Q&&A and Book Signing event!
