The phone is ringing with unposted jobs. I don't have time to outbound as I'm taking my son to tour Alabama and Auburn today. Here is my Texas Jobs update for the week! 1. Austin Litigation: Cravath scale base/bonus. I want a 19'-20' but I"ll talk to a 2018-2022. We haven't seen many Big Law Austin jobs in the last year! 2. Houston TAX and Corporate Mix: 2020-2023 grads. Don't need an LLM. Must have a tax background. Must come from a law firm. No accounting firms. 1850 hours for real! If you are looking for a Big Law exit, this is it. 3. Dallas M&A!!! Good job with a nice partner! 3-5 4. Dallas Finance: 21 or 22 so a junior. AmLaw 30, Cravath base and bonus, no billable. The finance group is super impressive. Met them in Dallas last week. 5. Dallas Tax: Mid to Senior, same firm as no. 4 above. No juniors. Really need Big Law Transactional Tax deal support experience. They will be picky. 6. Houston M&A PE: I need a 2020 but I know that's a unicorn so I'll take a 2019-2021! Cravath pay scale, Top Work, No billable requirement

This market confuses me, so I'm asking corporate associates to take my poll on Anne Heaviside's feed today. January hiring stats are rolling in and it was slow. Firms are saying they are hiring in M&A when their associates are calling me telling me they billed 100/month. Certain firms slammed, others not at all. January is always slow in corporate so let's use a 4-month average. You can find the poll on my personal LinkedIn Feed today. Thank you!

What do I do? Who are my jobs geared towards? What law firms hire me? 100% of my placements are in law firms. No in-house 80% of my placements are in Big Law/High-end Lit boutiques 20% smaller, local firms - generally former Big Law partners who went out on their own 60% (maybe higher) are from repeat law firms 0% insurance defense, family, immigration, T&E very rare, criminal 70% of my placements are mid-levels 3-6 years 20% of my placements are 7-14 year lawyers 5% (but growing quickly) are partners with books, those associates I placed 7 years ago are now partners! 5% are juniors - 2022 grads I can't place law students or entry-levels 40% are litigators 40% are corporate (heavier on CapM, M&A, Finance, ECEB) 10% are real estate 10% are L&E 90% of my moves are from law firm to law firm. 1 a year is In-house to law firm but that's rare. 1 a year is an AUSA or other gov't agency to law firm.
