A huge congratulations to a wonderful friend and partner of mine for over eight years now, Steve Uebele. Yesterday, Steve and his team delivered their public announcement of $1.5B in funding (??) for his latest company, Frontier Scientific Solutions, located right here in Wilmington, NC by our airport. What an honor it was for Travis and I to watch him do this, run into some great leaders locally and globally, and what an epicenter and economic boom there is to come for our home city thanks to all of them. A total healthcare, fitness, and life sciences public servant, Steve is a huge natural medicine lover at heart. Did I say huge…? When I first opened Upper’s original nonprofit, Health Possible (February 2017), Steve and his family were the first ever to welcome me with open arms in the doors of their multiple Anytime Fitness locations in Wilmington. It was at Anytime right in Pine Valley where they invited me to set up tables, pass out information, and fundraise. From my day one as an entrepreneur at the ripe age of about 23, I’ve had Steve to thank for some of our very first dollars, donors, first partners, first in-network providers, and more; welcoming me into his board meetings and pitching his teams, and overall a first ever path to so much of our growth today since. Oh, how far we both have come. Spending time with him lately learning all about their latest work is nothing short of inpsiring, a blessing, and an honor. I’m beyond grateful for the true GOOD this soul brings to our world. And if you also personally know Steve, his support - given his passion for charitable projects - will not surprise you in the least. God works through him, and that’s why good things like this and more will never stop happening for him. I LOVE seeing it. So proud of all of these folks! I cannot thank them enough for welcoming us at the Live Oak Hanger ??? yesterday. Cheers ?? to servant leaders like Steve, FSS, and all their inevitable success to come! We are lucky to have you in our lives.

As if life could've gotten any sweeter ?? ... Travis and I are getting ready to welcome Little Man ?? ?? Lloyd this coming May of 2025. As a woman, I take tremendous pride in being a God-given caretaker, which NOT ironically bleeds into the fundamental purpose of my career at Upper, and even all those in healthcare I've had before it. Keep reading... So thankful for my husband (happy 8 years ?? !!) who protects and provides for our family more than I ever could have asked for in this lifetime, his actions actually allow me to continuously evolve more and more into a calm, safe, feminine state of mind & being all the time. SO, what did this do for me as a natural-born nurturer in the work place? Well, get THIS: It is NOT ironic... actually, there is a DIRECT CORRELATION... in the fact that Upper is fundamentally a company of love, caretaking, and what I often refer to as the very Profession of Nurturing. Healthcare, medicine, and most especially NATURAL medicine (think food, plants, the outside, the home...) are thee most powerful aspects of a woman in her most historic role of a home. (YES - AND I LOVE it.). In my dream world, Upper creates the perfectly cared for lifestyle for ALL families, far beyond just mine. My company is the essence of my own most female nature, deeper than an interest, it is my unique instincts. Did anyone ever not realize this?! I've always realized that inherent sense of belonging. Honing in on my femininity both at home and in the work place, doing all the things I feel I was meant to love to do by the grace of God... ?? Upper has now had the BEST two months of it's lifetime back to back in September and now October... with me three months pregnant!! ?? Writing this rooting for all women doing it all! Still hitting the gym and running every single day, working full time, growing beautiful little man who I cannot wait to take 4wheeling at my parents someday ?? ... If Upper breaking direct-to-consumer sales records for two consecutive months ?? with me three months pregnant ????, isn't the perfect "female peak performance," then I'm really not sure what is. ?? I meet hundreds, maybe even thousands, of providers every year. From independent to entire hospital departments, and from retired to freshly graduating. It's an honor to learn first-hand from so many clinical experts. In my experience, newer provider's have made a huge shift toward specializing in women's health... to the extent that many even TURN DOWN ANY male patients. The concerning part is not the nature of specialization (a necessity), but the turning down of the opposite sex for NON-SEX APPLICABLE or UNISEX APPLICABLE services (general care). CoastalT is addressing a rising problem in the coastal region very early. While all types of true specialists are required for our own internal functionality and success, the rapid pace + population adjustment lead to a sudden imbalance and entire market overlook for men's health specialists in the Wilmington area (including out-of-network). I project the problem could potentially become as severe as local pediatric care, and God forbid as monstrous as natural pediatric care, in the next 5 years.
