The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and the Board of Directors of UCH announced that the merger of the two-hospital system into UMMS had been completed. UM UCH's two hospitals are now University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital (UM HMH) and University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (UM UCMC). Join us in celebrating Judy Billings, MSN, RN, CCRN’s 35th anniversary at UM Upper Chesapeake Health! A highly respected nurse, Judy has consistently gone above and beyond for her patients and colleagues, earning recognition such as a 2022 "Excellence in Nursing" award from Baltimore magazine. Her career includes years as an ICU Charge Nurse at UM Harford Memorial Hospital and currently as a valued member of the IMC unit at UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air. Beyond her clinical expertise, Judy is an active Harford County neighbor, organizing blood drives, supporting homeless shelters, and volunteering at local health events. She is also a dedicated member of the hospital community, serving on committees, leading initiatives, and mentoring other nurses. As Nurse Manager Kathy Lynch states, "She is one of the most intelligent nurses I have ever known in my career." Congrats on 35 years, Judy – and here’s to many more!

A chili cook-off spiced up UM UCH this February, with team members vying for the title of best chili chef. Contestants brought their creations to our hospital cafés, where colleagues sampled and voted. Congratulations to Jason Hill from Facilities Operations, who took home the prize and bragging rights! And for all the heat seekers out there, his winning recipe will soon be featured in our cafés! The event was a great success, with everyone enjoying the chili, sharing laughs, and connecting with their peers. A big thank you to all the chefs, participants, and volunteers who made the day so flavorful.
