I have the heart of an engineer, having held highly technical roles in oil, gas, solar, and power generation over 20 years. However, I have great passion for public private partnerships in the energy sector. There are lots of opportunities to collaborate for the betterment of communities nationwide, bringing both affordability and grid resiliency to both urban and rural communities.?I manage partnerships and business development at UPower, where we seek to partner with industry, community, and various levels of government to bring clean and resilient power to our grids.

I knew from a young age—15 exactly that I wanted to work with cities, fascinated by infrastructure design. ExxonMobil Corporation gave me the greatest opportunity as a civil engineering intern in the pipeline industry through their partnership with UT Austin, and it went from there. I spent many years with oil and gas, then transitioning to #renewables, hybrid systems and regulatory work along the way. I found through this work a passion for energy reliability, safety, #sustainability and realized how much low hanging fruit is out there with regards to energy public private partnerships.

More true collaboration amongst groups that have overlapping needs and talents with regards to power generation, especially hybrid energy power generation.?Also, technology developments are exciting in the integration of energy storage, #hydrogen, and even asset integrity.?Our nation’s infrastructure needs mass re-vamping, and I’m excited to see more forms of financing, asset management, and asset re-use being thought through up front in a sustainable manner.

Austin has a great networking community and industry event meet up opportunities.?Great thanks to Lisa Hendrickson + City of Austin, Office of Sustainability Team, Capital Factory, Cherie Werner, and Sean Voigt for being anchors in community networking and accessible learning opportunities for those in the sustainability space.?I also regularly follow federal, state and local grant opportunities/news and attend conferences. I have learned the most through talking directly to people at these events, and would highly encourage others to do the same.
