Thank you to Boston's Age Strong/ Age-Friendly Commission for stopping by our Roxbury PACE center last week! To ensure Boston is the best place for elders to live, the Age Strong representatives asked our PACE participants to give feedback about what they love about living in Boston, what they would like to see more of, and what can be approved. Do you have ideas about how to make Boston a more supportive city? Age-Friendly Boston would love to hear from you! Age-Friendly Boston is currently updating its five-year plan and is looking for residents around Boston for ideas and suggestions to improve the city. Fair Foods winter location: Stop by 415 Columbia Road every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. for fresh produce—each bag is just $2! Due to the upcoming winter weather, the Fair Foods’ pick-up location is now on the first floor of the health center.

The Dorchester Food Co-op visited PACE again this year, offering fresh, local produce to participant & staff free of charge. Produce included melons, apples, carrots, beets, bok choy, collard greens, cauliflower, and cranberries. In total, 61 participants and 25 staff members engaged in the Pop-up Farm Stands at 1140 and 36. Many thanks to the DFC volunteers who made this happen!

I want to write about the training conducted today by The Boston Medical Center (BMC) Grayken Center for Addiction on Pain Management and Addiction for our nurses and PCPs at Upham's Community Care. It was insightful, focused and needed. We are ? Improving outcomes for patients ? Reducing overdose burden ? Increasing our team's knowledge and capacity to provide care for OUD and SUD ? Creating a positive experience of belonging for patients of color receiving substance use services/treatment and our staff who do this work ? Improving street outreach A special thanks to The Boston Public Health Commission (OD2A Overdose Data To Action Grant), Mass General Brigham and The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (MGB SUD Equity Foundation Grant) for their collaboration on this important initiative. Together, these partnerships contribute to the success of our shared mission. Last week at the MassPACE Annual Meeting several State Champions were honored for their work advancing PACE and elder care: Senator Pat Jehlen, Vicki Halal, and Chairman Thomas M. Stanley. Of course, we’re thrilled to congratulate all the Phyllis Solomon Award nominees and especially our own Mary Udeh from Upham’s PACE, this year’s award recipient. Mary’s dedication, compassion, and commitment truly embody the heart of PACE, and we’re so grateful to have her on our team.
