Upbring constantly evolves to meet the needs of the children we serve. Upbring is searching for a strategic and compassionate leader to serve as our Director of Emergency Assistance—a role that directly impacts families and individuals in Lubbock County during their greatest time of need. Each year, more than 7,000 families in Lubbock turn to Upbring Neighborhood House for essential resources. Our emergency assistance program provides critical support for families with children, people with disabilities, elderly individuals, those experiencing homelessness and others facing financial crises. Services include case management, utility assistance, food and clothing access, hygiene products and other life necessities. Key responsibilities: ? Oversee daily operations and manage a comprehensive emergency assistance program. ? Lead program staff and volunteers with training, guidance and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality service delivery. ? Develop and strengthen strong community partnerships to expand and enhance services. ? Manage program resources, budgets and data reporting to ensure financial stability, track progress and maintain compliance with agency and funding requirements. The Texas Legislature recently passed House Resolution 384, authored by Rep. Paul Dyson, honoring Rep. Denise Villalobos and her husband as they welcome their son into their family through adoption. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, more than 10,000 children and teens were placed in the Texas foster care system in 2024, with over 4,100 waiting for adoptive families. We're proud to see recognition from the Legislature for those who choose to foster or adopt, and we commend families like the Villalobos who open their hearts and homes to children in need. Upbring was honored to contribute to a powerful conversation during SXSW 2025 at SVC at SXSW's panel, From Possum Trot to the World: A Story of Radical Love & Global Impact. Our President & CEO, Michael Loo, joined inspiring leaders like Bishop W.C. Martin of Possum Trot, Bishop Aaron Blake of Orphan Care Ambassadors and Joseph Knittig of The Global Orphan Project to reflect on the challenges children face and explore sustainable solutions. The stories shared during the panel reinforced a core belief we hold at Upbring: Love, community and compassion are essential to creating lasting change for those we serve. Stronger communities require strong advocates, and Upbring is proud to be one of them.? Last week, we joined fellow providers at TexProtects - Champions for Safe Children's Texas Prevention Network Day at the Capitol to amplify the voices of Texas children and families. In conversations with legislative offices, including Sen. Sarah Eckhardt and Rep. Gina Hinojosa, we emphasized the need to strengthen resources that support child wellbeing. We were also excited to see the Senate resolution presented by Sen. Tan Parker and the House resolution led by Rep. Christian Manuel, whose districts include Upbring programs. Texas families deserve strong voices fighting on their behalf.
