  • ??Thus, Prof. Jason Jurjevich concludes his Udall Center Fellowship! Jurjevich – an Assistant Professor in the U of A School of Geography, Development and Environment – spent his semester away from teaching as a UC Fellow advancing his research on the history and current state of discriminatory housing practices in the U.S. His work was essential to the passage of a Tucson law passed last year that made it easier to remove racist language from housing covenants. Jurjevich’s last presentation as a UC Fellow took place just a couple of weeks ago at the Udall Center. The meeting revolved largely around discussions about how to secure additional funding to expand this important work. In attendance were Director of Research at the University of Arizona, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences Elizabeth Stahmer, UC Fellows Leslie Farland and Jessica Rainbow, UC Research Professor Laura López-Hoffman and SBS Dean Lori Poloni-Staudinger. ??Learn more about the UC Fellows Program here: https://lnkd.in/eddpN9c7

  • ???The exponential increase of Earth’s temps necessitates proactive actions in heat governance.?? ????Each year, over 2.4 billion people are directly affected by extreme heat, capital expenditures towards infrastructure repairs are bloating, and 12% of total food production is lost (among a plethora of other issues). Although progress is underway, governance has largely remained reactive and unable to alleviate stresses imposed by extreme heat in a timely manner. ??The answers are complex and many, but more info is just a click away –? at the link below!?? https://lnkd.in/eM5SbzAw

NASA’s multi-staged process may be too slow for some, prompting debate about whether a shorter time frame can safely be achieved.
