Oregon is a global hub of unmanned aerial system (UAS) innovation, concentrated along the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We are home to one of the best federally-recognized test ranges in the country in Pendleton. And thanks to support from Business Oregon, we are also home to the Oregon UAS Accelerator. Located in Pendleton, Oregon, the Oregon UAS Accelerator just announced their second cohort of startup companies. Companies selected to participate in the Challenge will have an opportunity to present their solutions to military, law-enforcement and industry leaders, in addition to being eligible for a $100k grant. What an incredible weekend at QuackHacks, University of Oregon's brand new flagship hackathon! I'd like to give a massive thank you to the 100+ attendees who came to our event this weekend and pushed themselves to the limit to create their amazing projects. When I reached out to Noah Weis in June of last year, I could not even begin to imagine how much we'd be able to do in six months. We were able to bring in over a hundred attendees with students from all across Oregon to collaborate and compete over the course of 24 hours. I was amazed at the dedication our attendees showed and how much they were able to accomplish in this short amount of time. Our team has worked non-stop and I am genuinely thankful for everyone who helped us to bring this to fruition. I want to thank Noah Weis, Adam Wolfe, Jack Klein, Jaya Munoz, and all of our volunteers who made this possible. I'd also like to thank Hank Childs and the University of Oregon School of Computer and Data Sciences who provided support and encouragement through the entire process. In addition, we appreciate the massive help from the Associated Students of the University of Oregon for their financial contributions. This event was a product of everyone who participated, and it wouldn't be possible without any one of these people. This will not be a one-off event, and we are excited to run an even bigger QuackHacks in 2026. We are here to stay!

Three months. From an idea to a reality. That’s QuackHacks - The University of Oregon's flagship hackathon. This student-led event brings together students for 24 hours of coding, learning, and building. More than just a competition, hackathons are invention marathons that conclude in a science fair and award show. They provide an incredible opportunity to connect communities, develop new skills, collaborate on exciting projects, and share innovative ideas. Over 24 hours we had over 100+ attendees and 22+ submitted projects. This isn't only for University of Oregon Students: 14.7% of attendees represented Oregon State University, 5.3% represented Oregon Institute of Technology, and 2.7% represented Lane Community College. This was a team effort. I want to thank Noah Weis, John Heibel, Adam Wolfe, Jaya Munoz, and all of our volunteers. Your passion and dedication made this hackathon a reality. I also want to thank our incredible student government, Associated Students of the University of Oregon, and the University of Oregon School of Computer and Data Sciences for supporting our event through their financial contributions. Finally, a special shoutout to Oregon State University and BeaverHacks for their support in spreading the word through their podcast and social media. I cannot wait for future partnerships and more! This is just the beginning. QuackHacks is here to stay!
