What do you get when you mix DiSC profiles, team values, and a leadership charter? A recipe for teamwork brilliance! Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of working with the leadership team at Garden Village Port Macquarie in stunning Port Macquarie. We spent the morning exploring DiSC profiles, uncovering team values, and shaping their leadership charter - a powerful foundation for aligned and effective teamwork. I was most inspired by the team’s openness, their ability to embrace and celebrate each other’s strengths, and their dedication to creating a culture of collaboration and growth.?The conversations were thoughtful, and the energy contagious. Workshops like this highlight the value of creating clarity and fostering connections. I’m excited to see how this team takes their insights forward! If you’re curious about how DiSC and values-based workshops can help strengthen your team and drive collaboration, let’s chat. I’d love to help you create a workshop tailored to your team’s needs! This week’s Walk on Wednesday was with the amazing Sarah Wilkinson Her story is one of resilience, creativity, and passion for making a difference. You can read her inspiration in the post and dive into the comments for even more insights. Let me know what resonates with you! ???????? ?????????????????????? ??’?? ???????? ?????????? ???? in my life has to be my three children. Each of them has gifted me something unique that has helped me become the person I am. Parenthood is the hardest role I have ever taken on, yet to be there to hold their hand when they need it or stand back to watch them flourish when they don’t, fills your heart with so much joy, it's hard not to feel immense pride. ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????????????? ???????????????? ???? ???? ?????????? Do what makes your heart happy. The best results come from people whose passion for their job shines through. Where I am now in my career, is not where I started, or how I imagined it to progress. It’s been an evolution of both skills as well as life experience, which I have applied to opportunities that have been presented to me. ???????? ???????? ???????????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????? ???????? So much has shaped the person I am today. however the experience that has had the greatest impact on my life has been supporting my daughter through her own health journey. Sadly her illness was terminal and she has left a space in our family that will never be filled. But she has also left a great deal of love and taught me so much in her short little life that has made me a better person. She taught me not to sweat the small stuff and to never take yourself too seriously. She taught me to live in the moment and appreciate the beauty of life. ?????? ???? ????????????????????, ?????????? ?????????????? ?????? People who provide a clear set of guides to work within, however, let you flourish within that. A great leader allows you to work to your strengths and is supportive in helping you grow around your weaknesses. ?????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? ???? Leadership for me has never been about a title, but more about mentoring and role modelling. My leadership is reflected in my attitude, behaviours and work ethic. I like to think that positive vibes are contagious and when you love what you do, it’s easy to share that passion with others. ?????? ???????????? ?????? ???? ???????????????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???????????? I am so proud to work for @Ronald McDonald House Charities at the Family Retreat in Forster. I hope in 10 years we have continued to grow in providing a much-needed getaway to families who have a seriously ill child. The thought of playing a part in helping create 10 years' worth of memories for families would be incredible and I hope that within my role I have been able to share that joy with our community of supporters.

Tips for Leaders: Navigating the “Right to Disconnect” Let’s face it - managing the “Right to Disconnect” can feel a bit awkward at first, but it doesn’t have to be. It all starts with honest, open conversations. Here’s how you can approach it: 1?? Set clear expectations with your team: - What types of after-hours contact are fair? - How do they prefer to be reached (if at all)? - Should there be any compensation for being available outside regular hours? 2?? Get to know how they spend their downtime: This isn’t about being nosy - it’s about understanding what balance looks like for each person so you can respect it. 3?? Handle the tricky bits thoughtfully: - Feeling stuck about personal topics like caring responsibilities or mental health needs? Have a chat with HR or senior leadership to find the best way forward. - Use these conversations as an opportunity to ensure your workplace culture supports both the letter and the spirit of the law. This isn’t just about ticking a compliance box - it’s about creating a better workplace where everyone feels valued and balanced. What challenges are you facing with the Right to Disconnect? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Kath Harris Founder UnscriptedHR Helping #ceos #businessowners #hrprofessionals create #greatplacestowork https://lnkd.in/grRaWQQX

When culture issues come to light, companies often respond with reviews, policy changes, and improvement plans. But is this enough to drive real, lasting change? Here’s what two experts recommend: Start with Transparency: Conduct a thorough, open review to uncover underlying issues, set clear goals, and provide regular updates. Go Beyond Symptoms: Address not only individual behaviors but the systemic factors that allowed them, like hidden rules or unspoken agreements. Engage Leadership: Hold leaders accountable, integrate culture goals into their KPIs, and invest in their development. Read on for a deeper look into building a healthy, resilient workplace culture that employees can trust. My Walk on Wednesday took me along Sydney Harbour this morning. There’s something grounding about the city meeting the sea, especially when life feels so hectic. I keep coming back to this line from 4000 Weeks: “The point isn’t to control every moment but to cherish it.” These walks remind me to let go of the need to fill every minute and just enjoy what’s right here. Anyone else finding ways to slow down and be present? Two years ago, on a trip to Melbourne, I met Zo? Scott. We were both travelling from Sydney, and we instantly clicked, chatting non-stop on the Sky Bus. Zo? Scott introduced me to Collabor8Women, and since then, our paths have continued to cross. She’s one of my absolute favourite people - I’m constantly in awe of her talent, determination, and honesty. Find out more about why she’s so brilliant here! ??????????????????????????????????’??????????????????????????? Running my life and career on my own terms.?In my mid-20s, commuting over two hours a day to a dull cubicle job, I knew there had to be more to life than this.?I started up my own business and haven't looked back.? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????For budding designers starting a business today, my best advice is to master digital platforms, film, and UX design.?Never give up or compare yourself to others. I remember feeling overwhelmed by the talent at Uni, but design has many facets, and everyone brings unique skills. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????’??????????????????????To fail fast and use this as a learning tool to do better. Business owners don't like to talk about the f word (failing that is) it is a scary word that people often associate with being no good at what they do. Over time I've learnt that, that is totally?not entirely right.??? ????????????????????????????????,??????????????????????????????????People who know how to read the room and the people within it. They understand the bigger picture and look out for people at a higher level. They're normally charismatic people with exceptional communication skills, are good listeners as well as being the ones who have the strength to call things out when they are not right or not working. ????????????????????????????????????????????????? Leading with heart and authenticity. What you see is what you get with me - I’m all about setting a strong example, being open to fresh ideas, and focusing on people’s strengths. I'm here to help my team navigate challenges and grow, ensuring they feel genuinely heard and understood. ??♀????????????’????????????????????????,?I'm doing one of two things, either adventuring - whether by water, foot, bike or car or creating: whether that be craft, cooking or gardening.? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????I think this would totally depend on the mood I'm in. I love going on adventures, seeing new things and having new experiences. My bucket list includes Japan, Canada, Scotland, Europe, and New York. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? My vision for my business has always been to create for myself a business which will suit my lifestyle so I can be a present mum to my kids as well as creating an income - enough to sustain living in Sydney. Like most businesses, this is a work in progress, and I look forward to refining it as things evolve.

Walking = Fresh air, fresh ideas, and the best conversations ????♀??????? It’s amazing how a simple walk can spark great conversations - whether we’re chatting about work, life, or just taking a breather from the daily grind. These walks are such a great reminder of how important it is to stay connected and gain fresh perspectives. This week, I loved catching up with Tracey Murphy for Walks on Wednesday - she’s a brilliant colleague from my Optus days. Read more below to find out about her story! ???????? ?????????????????????? ??’?? ???????? ?????????? ???? is being accepted into Stanford University Executive Residential program (People, Culture & Performance). It was an intense week of new learnings and new friendships from across the world. The topics from AI to Systems Leadership and a Mindset for Growth were insightful and practical. I was so lucky to be supported by my organisation to attend. ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????????????? ???????????????? ???? ???? ?????????? 1 - Show interest in all facets of People & Culture. 2 - Find someone outside of People & Culture, to expand their understanding of the business (helps to be a commercial partner, which is critical for People & Culture in today’s world) 3 - Find your passion and go for gold. ???????? ???????? ???????????????? ?????????? ???? ???????????????? ??’???? ???????????????? is to be vulnerable. Allowing people to see your vulnerability promotes sharing and understanding. This promotes a healthy work environment which has the knock on effect of achieving individual, team and organisations goals. ???????? ???????? ???????????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????? ????????. I don’t think there has been one experience that has shaped me but rather the cumulative effect of experiences like moving geographically, bringing children up in the world of social media and COVID and the belief of others that gave me the opportunity to move my career forward. All these things have challenged my optimistic view on life, yet I have come through all experiences maintaining my positivity believing that if life gives you lemons you can make lemonade ?? ?????? ???? ????????????????????, ?????????? ?????????????? ?????? generous with their time and encourage different viewpoints with the approach that someone else could have a better idea/solution. They are self aware and do not always feel their idea/solution is the best. ?????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? ???? collaborative and open in order to build a safe space for sharing. I also try to be as transparent as possible and provide the ‘why’ when change approaches. ?????? ???????????? ?????? ???? career ???? ?????? ???????? ????????????. Very much top of mind for me right now as I take the time to find the right next role. The culture of a company is core to facilitating a successful company and I want to find an organisation that believes this, from the CEO, across the leadership team and throughout the business.

Workplace loneliness is still a big issue, even though we’re hearing more about it and its impact on things like absenteeism, turnover, and overall health. In this Harvard Business Review article, “We’re Still Lonely at Work,” Constance Noonan Hadley and Sarah L. Wright dig into why loneliness at work is sticking around and what businesses can actually do about it. They challenge some of the common myths, like thinking remote work is the main cause, and offer real, practical ideas for creating more connection at work. It’s a great read if you’re looking to understand the issue and take steps to address it in your workplace. What steps have you taken to help your team feel more connected?
