Our 17 month journey to the WhatsApp Blue Tick ?? What does it take to win customer trust when your business runs entirely on WhatsApp? For Unplex, simplifying cross-border payments on WhatsApp means no app downloads, no complex steps - just open a chat, tell us who to pay, and you’re set. But we learned one thing the hard way: a Meta Verified Blue Tick on WhatsApp isn’t just nice to have - it’s critical. Here’s why: Our users kept asking: “Why don’t you have a blue tick? How can we trust you without it?” Beyond trust, there was another challenge: users couldn’t search for Unplex directly on WhatsApp. They always had to open our chat via a link on our website. We had to get the blue tick to address this. But the process? It wasn’t easy. ? 12 Attempts. ? 17 Months of Waiting. ? Rejections with no clear explanations. Every failed attempt meant waiting another month to reapply. We checked everything: documents, compliance, settings—still, rejections. Until we found the issue: a small mismatch in the capitalization of our brand name between Meta (UnPlex) and WhatsApp (Unplex). Finally, on our 12th attempt, we did it! ?? When my 9-Year-Old Talks AI and BOT: ???? This afternoon, on a routine school run with my 9-year-old son, I was in conversation with my cofounder, Rahul Chaudhary, about a process of increasing transfer limits for our Unplex users. Suddenly, my son, who usually tunes out my "boring work talk," asked curiously, “What are you talking about, Daddy?” Surprised, I explained that we help people send money to their friends & family. I am discussing with Rahul (Uncle) how we should let some people send more money if they want to, but not everyone, as people misuse it. Without missing a beat, my son suggested, “Why don’t you use a BOT to help people give instructions and send money?” Wait, what? A BOT? From a 9-year-old? Intrigued, I asked him to explain what a BOT is and how it can help. He said, “A BOT is a piece of code that can automatically take instructions from people and send money for them.” I chuckled and told him, “That’s exactly what we do, buddy! Our BOT takes instructions from people on WhatsApp and then works on that instruction.” He then added, “Daddy, A BOT can also tell you how much money someone should be allowed to send if you use AI.” Now, I was officially mind-blown. Here I was, thinking I was the tech-savvy & experienced one, and my 9-year-old was casually dropping AI knowledge on me. He even warned, “But daddy, AI could be dangerous and take over humans,” like a mini sci-fi sage. This conversation not only made me smile but also filled me with pride.
