The University of New Orleans Office of Research fosters faculty, staff, and student innovation across disciplines, helping investigators find funding, apply for opportunities, manage awards, and learn best practices at every stage. We safeguard the integrity of the research conducted in our community, protect the intellectual property of our investigators, and promote UNO's creative, scholarly, and research achievements. The mission of the UNO Office of Research is to 1) support and grow the research, scholarly, and creative enterprises of the University community, 2) foster innovation—the process of creating new ideas and bringing them to fruition—and 3) promote sustainable economic growth and advancements in quality of life through research, scholarly, and creative output. We are responsible for: cultivating a creative and entrepreneurial spirit that values high achievement in the UNO community; positioning researchers advantageously through informed advocacy, efficient administration, and adaptive service; equipping faculty, staff, and students to identify, obtain, and utilize grants; investing in promising research, scholarship, and innovation; increasing public awareness of the University and the value of its body of work; fostering local, regional, national, and global relationships with current, former, and potential sponsors; furthering collaborative, interdisciplinary research across departments and schools; developing systems and implementing policies that encourage and ensure integrity; managing and administering grants, contracts, and sponsored programs; and communicating transparently about our services, policies, and procedures.

Julie - I wish you luck on your next adventure!
Farewell, Julie – We are truly saddened to lose our superstar! It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Julie Landry’s departure from UNO. Julie, our dedicated research development administrator, will be embarking on a new opportunity at Tulane University. Julie has been an invaluable member of our team since joining the Office of Research in 2018 as our office manager. In 2022, she transitioned to the pre-award team, where she continued to excel. Beyond her professional contributions, Julie served three terms as Corresponding Secretary for Staff Council and managed the website for Keep UNO Beautiful, showcasing her commitment to our community. We are deeply grateful for the time we’ve had the privilege of working with Julie. While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing she will remain part of the UNO family as a graduate student in the Creative Writing Workshop. Julie is on track to earn her MFA in poetry in Spring 2026, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements. Julie’s last day in the office will be February 28. Thank you for everything, Julie – you will be greatly missed, but we wish you nothing but success and happiness in this exciting new chapter of your journey!

The Beach at UNO: Innovation Internship The Beach at UNO is seeking a highly motivated and creative student intern to join their team, assisting their Innovation & Technology Commercialization Department in various aspects of program/project management, event planning, research, and general office assistance. It is perfectly fine if you have limited experience with these tasks and skillsets as they will teach and grow together with you. Most important is passion for innovation and new technology, self-motivation, and the ability to be organized and follow best practices. This role is perfect for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about exploring and developing new ideas to solve real world challenges.
