?? REBS’s Semester Premiere Event with Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO, Jonathan Jossel! ?? REBS had the privilege of touring the iconic Plaza Hotel & Casino and learning about its rich history and success with CEO Jonathan Jossel. REBS received a full tour of The Plaza from GM Michele Evans, Natashia White, Sue Ascanio, and Vegas Pauly C. Each gave insightful stories and lessons throughout their tenure at this property. Jonathan joined us for an intimate discussion. He shared his remarkable journey in the real estate, hospitality, and gaming industry, offering valuable insights into his leadership at the Plaza, the hotel’s evolution over the years, and what makes this hotel so unique and eclectic. I had the opportunity to attend the Urban Land Institute Fall meeting this week. I was able to learn so much from people across the country. Looking forward to more ULI meetings in the future.

Many attendees participated in their first ULI event, and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! ?? UNLV Real Estate & Business Society students tuned into the ULI Nevada: In the Know event to gain insight on the projected 2028 Art Museum. A warm welcome from Debra March, chair for ULI Nevada and former mayor of Henderson followed by a conversation led by Heather Harmon, executive director of future Las Vegas Museum of Art providing us details on development timeline and location. Heather Harmon works with artists, organizations and museums on leadership, strategy, and fundraising. Currently she is the Executive Director of the Las Vegas Museum of Art and the Co-Executive Director of the Triple Aught Foundation, who governs and manages Michael Heizer's City. One of our REBS members, Alexa Malijan had attended The Mark Fine elementary school. With him attending the event and reflecting on his involvement in the industry, it became a full circle moment for her. With professionals in the art industry captivating the beauty of true art and tying it into Nevada culture, they're aiming to integrate all the art from the strips and this new museum to create a seamless flow throughout. What an incredible evening at ULI Nevada's Fall Kickoff Event! We enjoyed a fabulous bus tour in collaboration with Blue Heron, a market leader in luxury homebuilding in Las Vegas. Attendees had the opportunity to tour Oasi, Blue Heron's innovative community home product, and VM001, arguably the most architecturally stunning home ever built in Southern Nevada. With 25 sliding glass walls and breathtaking views from nearly every room, it was an experience to remember, led by Chris Beucler, President of the BH Nexus Division, and experienced sales associate Ryan Kurz. I am grateful to Lori Indriolo and Blue Heron for partnering with ULI Nevada and dedicating your time to elevate the conversation about real estate in the Las Vegas Valley. Exciting Fireside Chat Recap with Former Mayor Debra March! The UNLV Real Estate & Business Society had an incredible opportunity to host former Mayor of Henderson, Debra March , who shared her extensive experience in public service and community development. Debra March has been a trailblazer in Nevada. She served as the Mayor of Henderson from 2017 to 2023 and was the first woman to become a park ranger in the state. Her career is marked by a strong focus on economic development, including the establishment of the Las Vegas Raiders HQ and driving the growth of the city during her tenure. She founded the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies, creating the opportunities we reap today at the UNLV Lied Center for Real Estate. Throughout her career, Mayor March has emphasized the importance of regional collaboration and community planning, addressing issues such as housing affordability, public safety, and master planning. She has been a vital part of initiatives like Southern Nevada Strong and the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), working towards a more competitive and resilient economy for all cities in the region. March's background in social work has fueled her commitment to mental health and public safety. She has consistently advocated for improved education systems, affordable housing, and responsible land management, all while navigating the complex inner workings of government.
