Unlocking the potential of special kids with special abilities.
关于我们
Our purpose is to improve the quality of life and maximize the potential of children with disabilities in and around Charlotte, NC. Our mission is to ease the financial burden of families raising children with disabilities by funding adaptive or medical equipment necessary to increase their mobility, gain independence, and promote physical, social, and emotional development. Adaptive and medical equipment is vital to the overall health and well-being of children with disabilities. But it is also very expensive. While insurance coverage varies, it often only covers this equipment in part, or does not cover it at all. As a result, families are frequently forced to choose between what their children need and what they can afford. Unlocked seeks to bridge that gap.

2024 Impact In January 2024, the unlocked Board of Directors set a stretch goal to approve $100,000.00 in grants to fund adaptive and medical equipment for children living with disabilities in and around Charlotte, NC. This was a high target for our organization that started only two years ago, but we knew the significant impact it would have on so many local families if we were successful. We are thrilled to share that unlocked surpassed our 2024 goal by approving over $102,000.00 in equipment grants, a 48% increase over last year's awards. unlocked approved 38 applications (a 90% increase over 2023) for equipment averaging $2,700.00 per item. The most commonly requested adaptive or medical equipment for children included adaptive strollers, orthotics and adaptive tricycles. unlocked also approved two safety beds and three vibration plates that average $6,400.00 in cost per item. Many families struggle to afford this equipment but are critical for the well-being of their children. One family shared this reaction after receiving a grant approval: "Oh my goodness, this is the absolute best news ever. Thank you SO very much and please know that this is such a blessing to us and our peace of mind! This feels like a happy ending to a tough year." This year's results demonstrate that this community of children needs our collective help. Thank you for seeing their potential, their value and their worth. unlocked www.unlockedinc.org #childrenwithdisabilities #adaptiveequipment #serve
