It's #ReadAcrossAmerica Week and #NationalReadingMonth! Here's a peek at one of last week's tutoring sessions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Kit & Dick Schmoker Reading Center. Located on East Campus, the Schmoker Reading Center provides year-round reading and writing tutoring to students in grades K-6 reading below grade level. Tutoring is available for students in grades 7-12 during the fall semester each year. Individualized instruction is provided by CEHS undergraduate and graduate students under the direction of our faculty along with certified teachers. ?? Loren Rye, Pixel Lab

In case you missed it, last week five of our students in the inclusive early childhood education program officially signed with the AVENUES and Apprenticeship programs. The programs are part of the state's "Grow Our Own" initiative, which supports high-quality teacher preparation and mentorship to bolster workforce needs in early childhood education. Both programs provide extensive first-hand classroom experience as the students work as paraeducators while enrolled in our inclusive early childhood education program.
