We were thrilled to see students and professionals eagerly participating in this experience. I am happy to share that I was selected to share my research project in an oral presentation at the ECS - The Electrochemical Society conference some weeks ago. As this was my first time participating in the carbon nanotubes sensor division, I felt welcomed and inspired by the incredible scientific community working towards maximizing the capabilities of sensors across many applications. I am passionate about seeing science and engineering applied to the service and well-being of people. As I mentioned in my talk, I extend my deep gratitude to my advisor, Dr. Nicole Iverson, for her distinguished mentorship, to Dr. Omer Sadak for his support and insightful feedback, to my labmates, friends, and family who have encouraged me through the doctoral journey, and to God, the author of the science I love studying. Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), we hosted 30 high school students for a week-long research training. ??https://lnkd.in/gaq95PdW ??The first UNL Molecular Engineering Camp for high school students (K9-12), turned out to be a success, judging by the feedback we received. We had hands-on chemical laboratory work, nanoscopy, a research talk, fun activities, and a visit from Vice Chancellor Sherri Jones. We discussed topics relevant to advanced and future manufacturing and showcased 3D NAND technology and intel 5 nm node. The enthusiasm and curiosity these young minds exhibited were truly inspiring! ?? This camp offered students a fantastic opportunity to delve into core areas like materials science and nanotechnology, which are vital for advancing our future manufacturing. A huge thank you to the National Science Foundation (NSF), Nebraska Research, Electrochemical Society (ECS) Student Chapter at University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), YNS, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering for supporting this event! The UNL-ECS student chapter had the privilege of participating in the High School Research Experience in Molecular Engineering (HiREME) summer camp from June 24 to June 28, supported by NSF. Throughout this exciting week, our executive officers and members engaged 30 high school students in hands-on experimental activities, emphasizing the importance of electrochemistry. We delivered an inspiring presentation on the fundamentals of electrochemistry and sustainability, along with an overview of ECS and our student chapter activities. The event also included comprehensive lab tours and practical demonstrations, such as the electrodeposition of nickel on copper foils. We look forward to continuing our outreach efforts and inspiring more future scientists!
