Literacy Partners and La Fuerza de Familias Latinas are excited to announce our nomination for ANOTHER Emmy Award, this time for the Children’s or Family Viewing Series Emmy Award!??????? After already winning an Emmy Award (Outstanding Public Service Initiative), we are honored to be nominated for another Emmy Award for?"La Fuerza de Creer: Dulce Sazón", part of the La Fuerza-STEM Initiative. This educational telenovela promotes informal science learning at home, using everyday moments to spark interest in science. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), it is supported by the creative collaboration of edc.org, Literacy Partners, Univision Foundation, and Creative Depot Enterprises. The telenovela celebrates the Latine culture and the Spanish language while inspiring future Latine scientists. Congratulations to all involved and for the stellar leadership of none other than Literacy Partners Chief Program Officer Michelle López Torres and the entire La Fuerza de Familias Latinas team whose efforts continue to strengthen the capacity of Spanish-speaking caregivers—their power, la fuerza—to support science learning through everyday activities and spark interest in STEM careers! Our Univision talent came together to read Migbelis’ baby’s very first story. Each of them added their own special touch. For example, Francisca let the rhythm take over, dancing along with every part of Pete’s story. Elian Zidan and Chiquibaby filled the moment with energy as they sang I love my blue shoes. Migbelis Castellanos, on the other hand, took this special moment to share her baby’s first story—even while still in her belly. And Roberto Hernández brought the story to life with the beat of I love my red shoes. ????
