San Antonio media have recently reported on the effects of a “mild” stroke. In this short video, Dr. Lee Birnbaum, the medical director at University Health’s Comprehensive Stroke Center, shows us what it looks like when stroke blocks blood flow to the brain and how it looks when blood flow is restored. That recovery is all about getting immediate medical help when the first symptoms occur. Our B.E.F.A.S.T infographic in English and Spanish is a good way to remember the warning signs: https://lnkd.in/gFUbk9m3. #strokeawareness #stroke #comprehensivestrokecenter

We’re so proud that Dr. Jason Bowling was selected as the best physician to represent Texas in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) #RiskLessDoMore national campaign! He did multiple media interviews in a Friday blitz, sharing information about the flu and COVID-19 with outlets across the state. Respiratory viruses peak during the holiday gatherings and Dr. Bowling reminded us that vaccines help protect us from complications. Everyone, ages 6 months and older, are eligible: https://lnkd.in/gVbxanwc. #fluseason #respiratoryillness #infectiousdisease

The foundation is set! Construction is moving forward at the University Health Retama Hospital site.? Scheduled to open in 2027, the facility will offer emergency care, labor and delivery, NICU care, and more vital health services to Northeast San Antonio’s community.? Kudos to Layton Construction on a successful pour and the collective team making this project possible. Onward to the next milestone!? ?
When most people are still hitting snooze, our team was pouring foundations equivalent to an entire neighborhood in ?????? ??????. ? On November 12, our University Health Retama team placed 1,338 cubic yards of concrete—enough to support 72 average sized #SanAntonio homes—on five major structural components in just 17.5 hours.? ? From 2am to 7:30pm, concrete was placed and steel erection began around 2 pump trucks and 3 tower cranes. ? All in a day's work.???
