The mission of UT Physicians is to provide the highest quality, comprehensive, cost-efficient and effective healthcare in a patient-centered environment, distinguished by national leadership in medical education and research. Incorporated as MCO Associates in 1973, Dr.Lucien Morris who was then Chairman for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Ohio formed MCO Associates. The goal was to find a solution for the MCO physicians to be compensated both academically and clinically. The idea was to split revenue between the hospital and the physicians of the corporation. The business was created and began handling the physicians' billing and collections of the newly created group. In 2004 the organizational structure was changed from a for-profit to a not-for-profit, and the name changed to MCO Physicians. As a result of the merger of the University of Toledo and the Medical College of Ohio in July, 2006, the group name changed again to the University of Toledo Physicians (UTP). The organization provides practice management support services to its physician members that includes provider credentialing, health plan enrollment, managed care contracting, compliance, fee schedule maintenance, billing, payment processing and collection services. Also provided is benefit administration services for medical malpractice, payroll, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans and accounts payable services.

Congratulations to Dr. Imran Ali for being appointed permanent dean of the UToledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences!
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Imran Ali on being named permanent dean of the UToledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Dr. Ali has led our college as interim dean since July 2024. A board-certified neurologist specializing in epilepsy, he has served on our faculty since 1996 and currently holds the Clair Martig Endowed Chair in the Department of Neurology. His leadership extends beyond UToledo, as he is also the vice chair of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. "I have seen firsthand your commitment to educating future clinicians and scientists, providing exceptional patient care, and advancing impactful research," Dr. Ali shared with the campus community. "Your hard work and dedication inspire me daily, and I am excited to continue working alongside you to advance our college’s mission and impact." UToledo Health achieved a major milestone this year by performing its first pancreas transplant! As the Transplant Program continues to grow and expand, our providers are able to deliver exceptional care—especially for patients with Type 1 diabetes.
UToledo Health has expanded its organ transplantation program to include pancreas transplants, building on UTMC’s long history as a premier kidney transplant center. https://lnkd.in/g7N7esYG Pancreas transplants are most commonly done in patients with Type 1 diabetes. While sometimes done alone, pancreas transplants are far more often performed alongside a kidney transplant in patients with kidney failure brought on by insulin-dependent diabetes.

Karen Bauer, DNP, APRN, FNP, CWS is the Lead Vascular & Wound Surgery APP and Director of Vascular & Wound Services. She is also currently serving as the Society for Vascular Nursing (SVN) President while being an Association for the Advancement of Wound Care member. During her time as President of SVN, she has had the opportunity to speak at numerous engagements. In February alone, she spoke at The International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy in Florida, the American Venous Forum in Atlanta, and the Mayo Wound Symposium in Rochester. She also had led multiple projects like this Wound Care Curriculum project introduced below. We cannot begin to express how incredibly proud we are of her achievements!
