Recently our Director Brian Wright, MBA and our VolTech Lead Buyer Randy Davis had the opportunity to present about CAS Standards at the NACS CAMEX conference! For the past 9 months, a group of several VolShop employees have been diligently working on completing an assessment for the CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education). The assessment process is very detailed and it involves delving into every area of our organization - from marketing and accounting, to accessibility and infrastructure. By taking a look at every area of our operation, we hope to provide a detailed overview of how we are doing and get a better idea of what we may need to improve on. As the chair of this project, Randy is well versed in all things CAS, so he was able to offer guidance, tips, and best practices to others in our industry who are looking to complete the assessment. Last week, our department was honored to participate in the "Bet on Your Success" Event put on by the University of Tennessee Academic Success Center! This event allowed students to get to know organizations around campus by playing games and using the "money" (Smokey bucks) they won to cash in on all sorts of goodies! Our table was a huge hit and the students loved playing our handmade Plinko game to win lots of Smokey bucks ?? #universityoftennessee #utknoxville #volshop

Today is VolBooks Assistant Director Shirley Streeter's last day ?? ?? After 28 years of service to the VolShop, Shirley is retiring!!! Shirley started at the VolShop in the 1996 as a temp worker, and moved her way up the ranks to become Assistant Director. Shirley's impact on the VolShop, the University of Tennessee, and the campus store industry is unmatched. Throughout her time, Shirley has brought passion and determination to the course materials space. She has continually fought for textbook affordability, and her legacy project, Total Access, has been a true labor of love that benefits both the University and its students. During her career, Shirley has shown an unwavering commitment to student success, and her work has helped to ensure that the VolShop remains an industry leader. Shirley will be deeply missed, but everyone in our department wishes her well on her next adventure!! Please join us in saying... Our girl is in a magazine!!!! Women's / kids' buyer Mabry Moore was featured in the most recent issue of The College Store Magazine! The College Store Magazine is put out every other month by NACS and highlights all of the wonderful things campus stores are doing. We are so proud that one of our own was interviewed about all things collegiate fashion. Since Mabry began at the VolShop last year, she has been working to transform the styles we provide for women and kids in our stores. Her unique sense of style and her ability to spot trends has completely helped to revamp our offerings. Mabry is always on the lookout for unique ways to style VolShop clothing, and her "Saturday Street Style" series was a big hit on our Instagram during football season! Meet our newest interns! Raychel Bellenfant and Ava DePersio will be participating in our Spring 2025 Retail Internship Program! During their time, Raychel and Ava will shadow every department within the VolShop. We hope to be able to give them hands-on experience with every facet of the retail industry - from buying and marketing to e-commerce and accounting! This program is a collaboration with the Department of Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. We are so lucky to be able to partner with these wonderful folks to offer an internship opportunity for students right here on campus!
