关于我们
We are committed to making significant contributions in Emergency Medicine through a positive impact on the lives of our residents, fellows, students, faculty/staff, patients, and the broader community via excellence in patient care, education, and research. In April 2024, USF Emergency Medicine became an independent Department of Emergency Medicine at the Morsani College of Medicine, mirroring our longstanding hospital side status as a Department and demonstrating our leading status as an academic medical center. Prior to this, the Division of Emergency Medicine had been an academic unit within the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since 2003. In addition, the University of South Florida is now part of the prestigious American Association of Universities and is a top-ranked public institute. As our division grows into a department and our University continues to gain preeminent status, our faculty have become national experts, leading emergency medicine by providing high-quality clinical care and innovating new approaches to health care delivery through research and implementation science. Tampa General Hospital is the main USF partner in a large, expanding and cohesive academic healthcare system that provides care to millions of people in the West Gulf Coast Region of Florida. Our department provides medical direction of the main TGH ED, as well as two free-standing facilities in the area. While the majority of EM training will occur at TGH, the footprint of the EM program has expanded to include prehospital/EMS care delivery in the City of Tampa, as well as Pinellas County, Florida Poison Control, faculty collaborations with the VA, CAMLS (our simulation center), and Tampa Bay Street Medicine/IDEA Exchange. In addition, through formal programs and faculty networks, interdisciplinary opportunities exist across the USF campus in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences (Anthropology), Business, and Public Health. As a mature academic healthcare system, USF offers

Dr. Henderson, a medical anthropologist and professor in the USF Department of Emergency Medicine will explore how anthropological perspectives are shaping patient care, medical education, and the way we understand social emergencies. This talk is a great opportunity to see how fieldwork translates to the hospital setting and to gain insight into the intersections of clinical anthropology, emergency medicine, and academia. The event will be hosted via Zoom, and you can join using this link: https://lnkd.in/gKN8ercb

Leadership Job Opportunity at Haley VA ED - USF EM We are excited to announce that our EM partner, the James Haley VA, has an incredible opportunity for the Emergency Medicine Chief Position. There is a an excellent salary with outstanding benefits, including relocation support. There is a physician recruiter, Victoria Cockrell ([email protected]) helping with the position - please reach out to her with questions. JHVA leadership and USF EM are committed to building the ED at the VA as an integral part of the USF Department of Emergency Medicine in the same way that the Medical Service at the VA is an integral part of the Department of Internal Medicine. ? The position is 60% clinical and reports to our partner, the Associate Chief of Staff for Medicine and Special Care Services, who also serves as the Vice Chair of Education in USF IM with 20 years of experience in the leadership role mentoring new leaders. The James Haley VA has 32 physicians (largest in the VHA system!) with 2 more full time, board certified hires, on the way. Dr. Lezama is committed to transforming this VA ED into an academic powerhouse as part of our Department. This role is an awesome opportunity to work with Veterans and lead, build, and grow in academic emergency medicine! ? JOA Link:?https://lnkd.in/eHHKBiwG
