??Pitt Pharmacy graduates had a 85.7% NAPLEX first time pass rate for the PharmD Class of 2024 compared to the national average of 77.5%. Happy 36th Birthday to Tacrolimus! ?? It was in March of 1989 that the first patient received FK506—now known as tacrolimus—intravenously, forever changing the future of organ transplantation. All of this was possible because of the vision, leadership, and perseverance of pioneering transplant surgeon, Dr. Thomas Starzl. He commanded an army of healthcare professionals and administrative staff with the support of the University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Pitt Pharmacy faculty members played a key role in developing safe and effective dosage regimens for this groundbreaking drug in collaboration Dr. Starzl. Today, tacrolimus is used in over 90% of transplant patients worldwide, saving countless lives. Our own Dr. Raman Venkataramanan, a critical leader of this work, reflected back to “thank all the patients who participated in the early studies, and all the healthcare personnel and administrative staff of the University who worked tirelessly to make this possible.” Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone and honoring the patients, researchers, and healthcare professionals who made it possible! ?? #PittPharmacy #h2p
