What can we learn when we view our community as a classroom? Future teachers in Kathryn Fishman-Weaver’s LTC 2040 Honors seminar have spent their semester exploring this question. During a showcase in The Bridge, students highlighted their experiences serving in community-based spaces such as the Ashland YMCA, Grade A Plus Tutoring, P.E.A.C.E and H.O.P.E Center for Youth, AVID programs, and COR Columbia. “Getting to work at an organization within our Columbia community this semester has been very rewarding and taught me a lot. I am so glad that I’ve been given an outlet to apply the lessons I’m learning in my classes and see the real impact that teachers and a child’s community can make.” - Anna Boes, Secondary Social Studies Education major “All of these organizations provide critical care, belonging, and powerful teaching for the young people they serve. They are also important learning spaces for our future teachers.” - Kathryn Fishman-Weaver

? Student spotlight on Trang Ta, Graduate Student, Human Development and Family Science ? "Making my journey across the ocean to Mizzou felt like a calling. From our first meeting, the genuine, enthusiastic, and humble connections with faculty and peers touched my heart. What could be better than growing in a human ecology where its values and practices align so beautifully with your own?"
