The University of Minnesota opens its production of "Cabaret" this Friday, November 15. “The show itself lures you into its world of beauty and fun, only to pull the rug out from under you and show you you know what’s really going on,”?says assistant director Leo Newman. Director Kym Longhi adds that the show is about denial and social responsibility. She says the lack of action on behalf of the main characters shows the audience the potential dangers of indulgence and escapism. How to Bounce Back After Being Ghosted by a Museum Job Waiting for that "next step" email that never arrives? Job application ghosting can feel discouraging, but don’t let it shake your confidence! Become a job-ghosting buster ?? Here are five ways to regain your momentum and keep moving forward: 1. You’re Not Alone Ghosting by organizations has, unfortunately, become a common (though frustrating) practice during the job application process. While it doesn’t make it right, recognizing that it’s beyond your control can be freeing. Remember, ghosting is usually more of a reflection of what’s happening within the organization than your value and potential as a candidate. 2. Keep Moving Forward Don’t let the setback stop you: use it as fuel to keep going! Never pause your job search, even after a great interview—keep applying and exploring opportunities. Learn to manage your expectations, and avoid putting all hopes on any one job. 3. Take a Moment to Regroup Your worth isn’t defined by any single position. Reflect on what, if anything, you might take away from this experience. Then, create your own closure and turn your focus back to new possibilities. 4. Keep Bridges Intact The museum field is small, so resist the urge to burn bridges, even when ghosted. Send a polite thank-you email even if you haven’t heard back, but don’t dwell on it. Treat each interview as another step in your journey—after you’ve followed up, let it go. 5. Find a Job-Hunting Buddy A job search is a lot to handle alone! Team up with someone for support, insights, or just a listening ear. They could be in the museum field or outside it, but having a buddy can make the process a lot more bearable. Museum job seekers, don’t let ghosting dim your light—keep moving, keep applying, and stay confident! ???? P.S. I love boosting confidence!
