ALEI, an education initiative, equips farmers with resources to identify legal risks and safeguard business viability
关于我们
The Agriculture Law Education Initiative (ALEI) began in 2013 in response to a realization that Maryland’s farm families need more information about the laws that impact their operations. ALEI is comprised of legal specialists and other extension specialists who help farmers understand and comply with state, federal and local laws and regulations through conferences, in-person education programs, legal publications, partnerships, webinars, videos, articles in farming periodicals, and more

ALEI's Elizabeth Anne Thilmany and Paul Goeringer participated in the annual SOUTHERN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS ASSOCIATION in Irving, Texas. Elizabeth and Paul were part of a panel discussing research and extension outreach related to solar development in Maryland. Participating in the panel with them was Dr. James Mintert a recently retired faculty member at Purdue University and director of the Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture. Elizabeth also discussed her ongoing broiler research with Dr. Jada Thompson at the University of Arkansas. Finally, Paul was a part of the Outstanding Extension Project winning team with Southern Ag Today, a website that delivers timely Extension news to ag operations. Paul serves as one of the topic area coordinators for the ag law team. For Elizabeth a highlight of the meeting was engaging with colleagues and researchers in person, refining ideas through discussion and gaining new inspiration along the way. For Paul, the highlights were seeing the graduate students he had been working with present their research, connecting with old friends, and seeing his graduate advisor and mentor win the Lifetime Achievement Award. #Southern #Agricultural #Economics #Association #ALEI
