We have great news! First thank you to everyone who has helped us reach our original goal of $50,000. This is huge and we could not have done it without everyone's generosity. We recently received an update from Mohamed's wife Asmaa. Mohamed was moved from the ICU three days ago. While this is a positive step forward, the doctors are still monitoring his condition with a focus on treating infection and further prevention from reoccurrence. Once this phase is successfully managed, Mohamed will need long-term rehabilitation and physical therapy which will be quite costly. Due to this additional anticipated expense, we have increased the goal amount. Please continue to share with your friends, co-workers, and family. The University of Louisville’s Kentucky Manufacturing Extension Partnership (KY-MEP) has secured $8 million to help the state’s small and medium-sized manufacturers generate business results and thrive in today’s technology-driven economy. With the funding, which comes via a state appropriation, KY-MEP has launched the Catalyst Equipment Match (CEM) program. The program provides an up to 50% match for manufacturers (up to $200,000) for investments in capital equipment and next-generation technologies. “These investments are critical to powering Kentucky’s manufacturing economy and making it future-proof,” said UofL President Kim Schatzel. “As someone with a background in manufacturing, I’m proud that we can offer these supports and drive these firms and Kentucky’s economy forward.” Learn more at UofL News and University of Louisville Research and Innovation!

Yesterday, we had a fantastic press conference at Louisville Automation & Robotics Research Institute to celebrate $8M secured for the Catalyst Equipment Match (CEM)—a major investment to help small and mid-sized manufacturers across Kentucky adopt next-generation technology. Thanks to University of Louisville President Kim Schatzel for sharing her journey from manufacturing to academia and highlighting the importance of industry support. Will Metcalf spoke about boosting Kentucky’s manufacturing sector, and Scott Broughton shared how KY-MEP is helping manufacturers grow and innovate. We also heard from Eric Taylor, president of CEPEDA Associates, one of our CEM recipients, who spoke about how this support will help companies like his—an engineering and manufacturing firm that supplies critical equipment to the U.S. Navy—invest in automation and advanced manufacturing.
