Over the summer, our newest faculty member, Dr. Harsh Kumar, was working on a research paper that develops a model to improve communication in Smart Grids and analyze how modern technologies (like 5G and LTE) can enhance reliability, and speed across the grid’s infrastructure. Looks like all that hard work paid off! IEEE recognized his work as the BEST paper at their latest conference in California, in 2024! Congratulations Dr. Kumar!

关于我们
Welcome to the R.B. Annis School of Engineering, home to the rapidly growing engineering programs at the University of Indianapolis. To address Indiana’s increasing demand for skilled engineers and STEM-related professions, we now offer seven specialized areas of study in the exciting and fast-growing fields: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computer Science, and General Engineering. UIndy is one of few schools in the region to offer these unique and innovative programs, which will provide you with authentic design opportunities through our multidisciplinary DesignSpine experience, invigorated by a strong general education core that develops well-rounded professionals. The curriculum emphasizes project-oriented courses integrated with hands-on experiences. Students who study a broader variety of subjects develop valuable communication skills such as business and technical writing, public speaking and presentation readiness. This unique educational experience encourages students to immerse themselves in the engineering world by challenging themselves to think bigger, imagine greater and continuously work to improve and expand their knowledge.

Students from University of Indianapolis’ Engineering Department had an amazing time in Chicago at #WE24 as they explored the city, attended a huge career fair, and gained valuable insights from Kelley McGrath about the importance of being resilient in such a demanding field. A big thank you to everyone who made this possible. The students expressed that it was an unforgettable experience filled with growth, networking, and fun. Looking forward to what the future holds for our students next! #SWE #WE24 #WomenInSTEM #STEM #WomenEngineers

That's right, University of Indianapolis - R.B. Annis School of Engineering is harnessing the power of the sun. ?? Dr. Paul Talaga, associate professor of engineering, and James Emery, manager of mechanical systems and laboratories, along with Nate Viewegh ‘27 (Electrical Engineering), dedicated roughly 300 hours of their time to perfecting the eBUV, which will soon help families in Africa tackle their farm work and other projects. "I appreciate the opportunity to create an engineering solution that directly impacts people in their daily lives,” said Viewegh. “Using more sustainable energy storage and solar panels made the project exciting to work with, especially knowing the impact it could have on rural farming communities." We are proud of Mel
Mel Moore ’21 (Software Engineering) showed up to her first engineering class and noticed there was only one other woman in the room. A minority in the STEM world, she felt she had something to prove. Fast-forward to a year later: Moore had met more female students in the program through lab courses and developed peer-to-peer mentorships. She was also a founding member of the UIndy chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Read more about Moore's journey with the University of Indianapolis - R.B.
