The University of Houston College of Pharmacy (UHCOP) combines the opportunities and experiences of the Texas Medical Center’s world-class healthcare community with resources of the University of Houston, a Tier One public research university, to offer its students the best possible education. The College is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. In 2017, UHCOP began occupation of its new state-of-the-art home in Health 2, a nine-story, 300,000-square-foot facility on the UH Campus. The College offers a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) professional degree, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences with Concentrations in Clinical & Translational Research, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy (PHOP), Pharmaceutics or Pharmacology. The college also offers a consecutive Pharm.D.+Ph.D.; Pharm.D./MBA dual degree; and a PHOP Ph.D./M.A. in Applied Economics dual degree. The college also offers post-doctoral fellowship and residency programs in cooperation with institutions, including a concurrent two-year M.S. in Pharmacy Leadership & Administration/PGY1-PGY2 in health-system pharmacy administration in collaboration with seven health systems. The College aspires to foster a commitment to lifelong learning and an environment where students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills consistent with the high standards of their profession and/or scientific field. Our diverse, award-wining faculty includes co-inventors of U.S. and international patents and National Institutes of Health-funded investigators. Year after year, our alumni and students are recognized at the state, regional and national level in the areas of patient care, community outreach, professional leadership and/or research.

After Hurricane Harvey flooded her family home, Dahlia Uresti took a step back from pursuing pharmacy to help her family rebuild. This was a minor speedbump in Uresti's journey into UHCOP's Pharm.D. program. UHCOP's Doug Thornton, Pharm.D., Ph.D., associate professor and director of The PREMIER Center, will be formally recognized with the 2025 American Pharmacists Association Wiederholt Prize For Best Published Paper Award For Economic, Social And Administrative Sciences (ESAS) during the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition March 21-24 in Nashville, Tenn.
