Another milestone has been reached in Athens! The School of Medicine was officially granted candidate status from the LCME. “Reaching candidate status with the LCME is yet another historic milestone for the School of Medicine,” said Founding Dean Shelley Nuss. “Our faculty and staff are working tirelessly to prepare for the upcoming site visit as we work to obtain preliminary accreditation status.”

In 2019, Tim Brown developed a unique dual role that bridged a relationship between the College of Pharmacy and the Medical Partnership, a collaboration that felt natural given his extensive experience working with both professions. “I teach what I teach because I am driven by patient care. I have the privilege of training students about how all voices at the bedside can make a difference in the life and well-being of a patient — and all voices need to be heard and respected by one another.”

Dr. Colby Ruiz joined the fight to battle the state's physician shortage when he returned to provide health care in his rural hometown of Valdosta, Georgia.

From groundbreaking research to academic excellence in the classroom to outstanding achievements on the field, 2024 was a great year at the University of Georgia!

Deep Shah (AB ’08), a Rhodes Scholar and UGA alumnus, returned home to Georgia after attending medical school at Harvard to serve his local community as a primary care physician in Gwinnett County. Earlier this year, he was named to the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents by Governor Brian Kemp. https://lnkd.in/etmcW6HZ
