Since its founding in 1938, the primary mission of the University of Georgia Press has been to support and enhance the University’s place as a major research institution by publishing outstanding works of scholarship and literature by scholars and writers throughout the world. The University of Georgia Press is the oldest and largest book publisher in the state. We currently publish 60-70 new books a year and have a long history of publishing significant scholarship, creative and literary works, and books about the state and the region for general readers.

The University of Georgia Press and our partners at the Georgia Review continue to prove university presses and literary journals can produce major success. Congratulations to Brandon Som, Ariana Benson, Nadia Davids, and our friends at the Georgia Review.
Congratulations to the University of Georgia Press and Georgia Review for a standout year of publishing award-winning poetry and short fiction. Brandon Som’s Tripas (UGA Press/Georgia Review) is the 2024 Pulitzer Prize winner in poetry. Ariana Benson’s Black Pastoral (UGA Press) won the Lenore Marshall Prize for most outstanding book of poetry published in the U.S., as well as the Cave Canem Poetry Prize. Nadia Davids’ short story “Bridling,” (Georgia Review) won the Caine Prize for African writing. The Georgia Review also was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for Best Fiction. We’re proud to have these excellent publishers in our UGA Libraries family.
