We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mark Trowbridge, president and CEO of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, former University of Florida Alumni Association (UFAA) president and a friend to many.-- Trowbridge, 56, earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology (BS ’90) and a master’s degree in student personnel in higher education (MEd ’92)?from University of Florida. During his almost two decades as president and CEO of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, he helped the Chamber’s revenue grow by over 40%. He was dedicated to his city – so much so, he was given the nickname “Mister Coral Gables.” “No one loved Coral Gables more than Mark Trowbridge,” said Ariel Fernandez, a Coral Gables city commissioner. Trowbridge was instrumental in establishing UF Coral Gables, a first-of-its-kind interdisciplinary center that consolidated many Miami-based UF offices into one community-focused hub. “His legacy will live on with all the businesses and nonprofits he uplifted,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said. In 2006, he established the Trowbridge Family Fund to support students at his alma mater, UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Trowbridge also represented UF at?New World School of the Arts?on the campus of Miami Dade College, and he was always proud of those UF students in Miami. He would even lead their Gator Chomp at commencement. “Mark was a Gator legend who made the Orange and Blue more meaningful for everyone,” said James Gadsby, a former UFAA president. “He will be deeply missed.
