As an academic institution, CU is uniquely positioned to pass along our best practices directly to patients. With 30+ publications just last year and 10+ studies currently open, our physician-scientists are working on research every day to improve the lives of their patients. Our teams are initiating rapid response protocols for pulmonary embolism (PMID: 39059627), investigating quality of life for patients with stents (PMID: 39284461), and discovering the real-world implications wounds in PAD patients (PMID: 38723913). The benefits of research don't just impact us—they impact you. Research is what helps us every day to #ImproveEveryLife.

How much do you know about Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)? If you're like most people, probably not much. AAA is a bulge in the aorta, the main artery of the body. Left untreated, they can be life-threatening. The good news is, they can be caught early by a one-time screening. If you're a man over 65, you could be at higher risk—especially if you've ever smoked. Take control of your health. Call us today to schedule a screening.

That's why CU Vascular has our OBL (Outpatient Based Lab) right across the street from Anschutz Medical Campus. Come in for convenient vascular care—and grab a coffee at Panera on your way out.

Dr. Matsumura's wise words are important for all to hear. Don't miss them ??
Men who undergo repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm are twice as likely to die within five years of the operation than men without abdominal aortic aneurysms, but women who have the same operation are four times as likely to die within five years than women who don’t have the condition. Jon Matsumura, MD, professor of vascular surgery, discusses the data that led to this conclusion and what doctors can do to help prevent the outcome. https://bit.ly/4gWhxE1
