Shoutout to Lucy for absolutely crushing it on a last-minute request to create a virtual tour of MUSiC phase 2! ?? Lucy is a junior at the University of Arkansas, incredibly talented, ambitious, and the kind of person who brightens up every room she walks into. If you're looking for a rockstar intern this summer, she’s your person! ?? Also... if you’re curious about MUSiC and want to see the construction happening right now (yes, in real time!), check out the live webcam! ??https://lnkd.in/gQaMa3UV #Internship #Hiring #SemiconductorInnovation #MUSiCFacility #SiC #FutureLeader
Seeking Marketing Internship for Summer 2025 - Marketing Student at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
Had an incredible experience last week touring the new MUSiC (Multi-User Silicon Carbide) fabrication lab under construction at the University of Arkansas! ?? The National Multi-User Silicon Carbide Research Fab (MUSiC) is the only low-volume SiC integrated circuit fabrication laboratory of its kind in the nation, designed as a resource for prototyping and proof-of-concept demonstrations. This fabrication laboratory will be a game changer for American researchers, removing many of the roadblocks that have hindered advancements in SiC electronics, and will pave the way for groundbreaking innovations in semiconductor technology. MUSiC will serve as a vital bridge between traditional university research and high-volume manufacturing, giving universities, national labs, and businesses of all sizes access to low-volume prototyping. MUSiC will help: ? Train students and shape the next generation of semiconductor leaders. ? Attract top faculty and new industry to Arkansas. ? Foster technological advancements that fuel start-ups. I’m proud to be part of the University of Arkansas Power Group and can’t wait to see how MUSiC will contribute to the future of semiconductor research and development! Congratulations to David Huitink, Ph.D. and his team on being named a Phase One winner in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Silicon Carbide Packaging Prize! ?? Their innovative design, led by Huitink in collaboration with Xiaoqing Song and graduate students Matthew Norris, Tanzila Akter, and Dehan Rahman, pushes the boundaries of semiconductor packaging—allowing silicon carbide devices to operate at higher temperatures and power levels in an ultra-compact form. ?? Their approach, embedding silicon carbide in low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC), could revolutionize power electronics, and this win comes with $50,000 in funding to build a prototype. ?? Check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gUHHVpsy And hear directly from the team in this video: https://lnkd.in/gXrgM7TK #PowerElectronics #Semiconductors #SiliconCarbide #IEEE #InnovationInMotion

Back in January, UA High Density Electronics Center (HiDEC) hosted its first PCB Design in OrCAD and Allegro Training Camp—despite a winter storm trying to slow them down! While the snow forced a reschedule, it was a great success. ?? This hands-on workshop introduced attendees to the principles of printed circuit board (PCB) design, bridging the gap between coursework and real-world electronic assembly production. Participants learned from HiDEC’s experienced staff and got a taste of what it takes to design and produce PCBs using industry-standard tools. ?? Interested in future training opportunities? Keep an eye out for upcoming workshops with HiDEC! ?? #ElectronicsDesign #PCBWorkshop #HiDECTraining #electricalengineering #mechanicalengineering

How do you know if you can trust AI? ?? AI can do a great many things, including scanning a chest X-ray and detect abnormalities like fluid in the lungs or an enlarged heart! But how does it make those decisions? That’s the big question Hoang Ngan Le and her team set out to answer. ?? They developed ItpCtrl-AI, a transparent and highly accurate AI system that mimics how radiologists analyze X-rays. This AI follows a clear, interpretable thought process—tracking where radiologists focus their attention to improve accuracy and trust. This means better AI, better diagnoses, and more confidence in medical technology. ?? Lunar dust caused big problems during Apollo missions—sticking to everything, jamming equipment, and irritating astronauts. Now, our very own Xiangbo Meng is helping tackle this challenge with dust-repelling surface coatings inspired by nature! ?? As co-PI on a NASA-funded project led by Min Zou, Meng will use atomic layer deposition to create protective coatings for lunar habitats, spacecraft, and equipment. These innovations could make space exploration safer and more sustainable—and even have applications here on Earth! ?? Congrats, Min Zou and Xiangbo Meng! ??
