We are proud to announce that two surgeons at University Hospital and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Edward Lee and Dr. Danbee Kim, are the first in New Jersey to use robotics in breast reconstruction after cancer treatment! The innovative procedure, latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction, helps restore tissue lost during mastectomy by utilizing muscle from the upper back. Thanks to robotic technology, this surgery is now less invasive, leading to smaller scars and quicker recovery times for patients. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we continue exploring how robotic surgery can further enhance reconstructive procedures and improve patient outcomes.
