UFS Co-Sponsors AADE National 5F Event Universal Fluid Services (UFS) proudly served as an Event Co-Sponsor at the 20th Annual AADE National Fin, Feather, Fur Food Festival (5F XX), held last evening at the Humble Civic Center Arena in Humble, TX. UFS-LCM250 Mitigates Fluid Losses on Inland Barge Drilling Project Universal Fluid Services (UFS) recently collaborated with an operator in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, to address expected fluid loss challenges while drilling from an inland barge. Based on prior experience in this region, the operator anticipated significant fluid losses due to the unconsolidated sandy formation in the surface hole section and turned to UFS for a proactive solution. Results Overview: * Initial Drilling: The surface hole was successfully drilled to 2,500 ft without any issues. * Fluid Losses Begin: At 2,735 ft, drilling through a sand and gumbo formation, the operation began to lose approximately 120 barrels per hour of water-based drilling fluid. * Response with UFS-LCM250: - 10 lbs per barrel of UFS-LCM250 was mixed with fresh water and pumped in 20-barrel increments across the loss zone. - Losses decreased rapidly to 40 barrels per hour, allowing drilling to continue. * Preventative Sweeps: To maintain control, 20-barrel sweeps of UFS-LCM250 in freshwater were pumped every 100 ft until reaching a total depth of 2,941 ft. - Each sweep was circulated out before making a new pipe connection. - Three total sweeps reduced fluid losses to a manageable 5-10 barrels per hour. * Successful Project: The drill string was then tripped out of the hole for the surface casing run without incident. Conclusion: The UFS-LCM250 performed as anticipated, effectively reducing fluid losses and allowing for uninterrupted drilling in a challenging formation. The client expressed satisfaction with the outcome, attributing the project’s success to UFS’s recommendation and support. UFS Salutes Our Veterans In November of 1961, at Arlington National Cemetery, President John F. Kennedy said these words: In a world tormented by tension and the possibilities of conflict, we meet in a quiet commemoration of an historic day of peace. In an age that threatens the survival of freedom, we join together to honor those who made our freedom possible. On this Veterans Day, on this day of remembrance, let us pray in the name of those who have fought in this country's wars, that there will be no veterans of any further war - not because all shall have perished but because all shall have learned to live together in peace. And to the dead here in this cemetery, we say: They are the race – they are the race immortal, Whose beams make broad the common light of day! Though Time may dim, though Death has barred their portal, These we salute, which nameless passed away. Sadly, to this day, we still send our sons and daughters to foreign fields to fight and die for the?freedom and peace we enjoy in America. Thank God there are still those willing to make such sacrifices for us. Let us never forget them; may we always honor them. Test Results for UFS Lost Circulation Materials (LCMs) Earlier this year, Universal Fluid Services (UFS) introduced a proprietary line of additive blends designed to prevent and control lost circulation during drilling operations. These uniquely formulated LCM products include: UFS-LCM100: Preventative lost circulation additive blend UFS-LCM250: Medium-porosity lost circulation additive blend UFS-LCM2000: High-porosity lost circulation additive blend Prior to their market release, these products were rigorously assessed in laboratory simulations of real-world drilling conditions characterized by high to severe fluid loss, with test porosities ranging from 160 to 2000 microns. The results are displayed in the following slides. Testing Procedure Permeability-plugging tests (PPTs) were conducted using: * A generic water-based fluid system made from a lightweight Bentonite-polymer mix * A 12.7 ppg oil-based fluid system with an 80/20 diesel/water ratio Testing was performed at room temperature and a 1000 psi differential pressure using filter media with porosities of 160 microns, 250 microns, and 2000 microns. Each LCM product was evaluated at incremental dosages to determine effective plugging rates. Results for the water-based fluid system are shown in the first slide, while those for the oil-based system are displayed in the second slide. Test Results These test results confirm the effectiveness of UFS’s lost circulation materials across high to severe fluid loss scenarios for formation porosities ranging from 250 to 2000 microns. PPTs using both slotted and ceramic filter disks underlined the LCMs’ consistent performance in both water- and oil-based fluid systems. Since these tests, the UFS LCM products have demonstrated their value in numerous real-world applications across Texas and Louisiana. In every instance, UFS’s specially developed blends have outperformed conventional and competitive LCM products.
