How do you prepare to attend a learning conference? I am preparing to travel ?? to two conferences in August. ?? National Speaker's Association "Influence" conference in Denver, CO ?? International Maxwell Conference in Orlando, FL. Conferences are a place to network and learn and connect and grow! I want to be intentional with my time and opportunities to connect. How do you prepare for an upcoming conference? So far I have: ? Created a notebook listing questions to ask friends and experts. ? Listed my goals in the notebook. ? Connected with people who I want to have coffee or lunch with. ? Printed the agendas and added my unique appointments. ? Bought a new orange outfit! (Every trip needs a shopping excursion!) ?? ? Piling items to pack, ready to add to my suitcase. ? Ordered a new travel backpack! What am I missing? I love it when what I'm reading gently collides with what arrives in my Inbox! The first chapter of John Maxwell's new book "High Road Leadership" shares why John is "leadership sad." Our world is looking for more ways to divide than unify. One paragraph is titled "Disrespect Has Become Common." I actually was comforted when I read this title. It's not just me noticing and experiencing this trend. John Maxwell is noticing and writing about it from a worldwide view! Then I opened my email and my friend Antoinette Griffin shared her insightful video "Disagreement vs Disrespect: How To Know When You've Crossed The Line" https://lnkd.in/gas5yAPj Friends, the disrespect in our world is a dangerous trend. I am incredibly honored to be in the Top 20 of the Class of 2024 Maxwell DNA Awards. Every year 11 awards are given, out of 50,000+ Maxwell Leadership team members. These awards recognize top leaders within the Maxwell Leadership Team who have created specific and impactful contributions to the broader team and community, living out the culture of the Maxwell organization. The best part is that I am competing against my friend and mentor Stephanie Richardson, M.S.. Competing against a friend could be uncomfortable, but not this time. Listen to this fun story. I have been learning from Stephanie for over 20 years. We were both succeeding in a direct selling company, so I have watched her from afar for most of these years to learn her success habits. At times I have border-lined stalked her, including cornering her in a bathroom to ask her questions. ?? Stephanie is successful because she is purposeful and intentional about everything she does. In recent years we have become friends and have mutually challenged each other to grow as a leadership speaker and coach. When nominations were requested earlier this year it was obvious to nominate Stephanie for the “Live Intentionally” award. Live Intentionally = Setting a daily course of action consistent with her beliefs, values, gifts, and purpose in life. Then, a few weeks later, I was notified that my friend Anupama nominated me for a DNA award for the same category – “Live Intentionally”! Thank you, Anupama Kinatukara, PgMP?, PMP?!! Isn’t this fun? Who will be the winner? It doesn’t matter! I won 20+ years ago and am still winning by living intentionally! (11 winners will be chosen at the Maxwell Conference in August.)
