Uniting Social Justice Lead Alexandra Hogan and General Manager of Advocacy and External Relations Emma Maiden were recently invited to discuss Uniting's More than Money campaign with Minister for Education Jason Clare MP and Minister for Early Childhood Education Dr. Anne Aly. Recently launched, More than Money focuses on supporting families to access early learning by addressing barriers that go beyond just the cost of fees. The meeting was a valuable opportunity to relay to the Ministers what we are hearing from our frontline early learning teams, along with the comprehensive research led by Uniting's Research and Social Policy team on the non-financial barriers to early learning. Alex and Emma highlighted the success of our proven solution, Links to Early Learning, and the positive impact it is having on many families. "Access to quality early learning is crucial for disrupting entrenched disadvantage and Uniting is deeply committed to ensuring no child misses out. Young people from Sanctuary Point enjoyed an unforgettable day of riding action at the BMX Blast event. ??♀? Riders were brought together during an epic day of events, ranging from cycling skill clinics to raffles and giveaways. The event was organised by Caitlyn, Phoebe, and Jasmine – members of our Firefly Bay & Basin youth-led research initiative called the Youth Voice Project. The initiative is being delivered in partnership and collaboration with the Vincentia High School within the Bay and Basin community. The aim is to empower students through co-design to create meaningful change in their community while equipping them with valuable skills and experiences for personal and professional growth. Firefly is one of nine Uniting NSW.ACT Future Horizons community initiatives - which aims to build a better world by focusing on communities and places with the greatest need.
