We have completed the purchase of Bangor Natural Gas Company from PHC Utilities, Inc., a subsidiary of Hope Utilities, Inc. The agreement to purchase was first announced on July 8, 2024. Bangor Natural Gas brings approximately 8,500 customers, 351 miles of distribution pipelines, and nine miles of transmission pipelines to our system. With the acquisition, we serve approximately 207,000 customers throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. “Bangor is an excellent complement to our existing natural gas distribution operations in Maine, and brings a strong team that is dedicated to delivering safe, clean, reliable, and affordable energy to customers”, said Tom Meissner, Unitil’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to providing the high level of service Bangor’s customers expect of us.” Read the full announcement and learn more at unitil.com/bng.

Unitil recently made headlines by being showcased on the iconic seven-story Nasdaq Tower billboard in New York City’s Times Square. This recognition coincides with the release of our 2024 “Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Report.” The report outlines our ongoing commitment to sustainability, including our goal of achieving a 50% reduction in company-wide direct greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Read our 2024 Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Report here: https://bit.ly/4fwiFOc As we mark the sixth consecutive year of publishing this report, it emphasizes our dedication to integrating sustainable practices into our daily operations and our role as a responsible leader in the clean energy transition. #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency

Last week marked the completion of the System Upgrade for Reliable Energy (SURE) project, a major 14-year natural gas distribution system modernization effort in the Portland and Westbrook areas that has created a safer and more reliable system to meet the growing energy demands of southern Maine. This monumental effort, and one of our largest and most aggressive capital improvement initiatives, retires a cast iron piping system that had faithfully supplied the city of Portland with natural gas for over 125 years. The work also included vital upgrades to 8,862 service lines and 16,945 meters.

We are focusing on a brighter, greener future with our 2025-2027 Massachusetts Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization Plan. The proposed plan, filed with the DPU, aims to help Massachusetts reach energy efficiency goals, lower carbon footprints, and save energy. We're gearing up not just to light up the homes & businesses, but to illuminate them in a sustainable, inclusive, & customer-friendly way as we aim to reduce over one million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. #EnergyForLife #EnergyEfficiency #Decarbonization
