At the end of the summer, our partners at the NC Department of Health and Human Services updated the data surrounding their Healthy Opportunities Pilots (HOP), and the numbers speak for themselves. ?? 23,000+ individuals served ?? 560,000+ services delivered ? 95% invoice acceptance rate ?? $107M reimbursed to CBOs But part of redefining #ROI in social care means expanding our scope to look beyond the data and into the lives of the people we’re helping. ???????????????????? ??????: ?????????????????? ?? ????????????’?? ?????????????? ???? ???????????? Thanks to a HOP organization, a family facing homelessness due to interpersonal violence was able to get out of a shelter and get into safe, affordable housing. The family's guardian also secured a job and childcare within two weeks, and a local church donated a car with new tires and six months of insurance coverage. Plus, a volunteer offered free self-defense lessons. Now, the family is housed, employed, and no longer living in fear. Talk about #realimpact — and this is just one story. Every night in the US, more than 650,000 people experience homelessness. To help break this cycle, our partner, First Step Staffing, focuses on addressing a critical barrier to stability: employment. ?? First Step's core mission is to empower those often turned away by employers, such as those experiencing homelessness or those impacted by the #criminaljustice system. While others may screen them out ??, First Step screens them in ??, providing a path to economic stability through #employment and retention services. ??? To date, First Step has filled an impressive 25,000 jobs, with each placement representing a new beginning for someone in need. "We have access to a totally untapped #workforce...people don't believe in them. They think they're part of the problem instead of part of the solution. If you get told that enough times, you start to believe it. But when they get told yes, their confidence changes overnight." ??? Amelia Nickerson, CEO Beyond just filling roles, First Step enhances mental and physical health outcomes by offering a meaningful, lasting solution that breaks the cycle of unemployment and poverty. ?? In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation and Hurricane Milton’s approach, we’re reminded that behind every statistic in disaster relief is a deeply human story. Our COO, Esther Farkas, shares a heartfelt perspective on the urgent response from Unite Us and our dedicated community #partners. Together, we have been supporting the hardest-hit areas, answering calls, and connecting individuals with vital resources in the aftermath of the most recent storm. As we navigate this data-driven age, we must remember that data can never fully capture the impact on those affected or the emotional work and countless hours devoted to humans helping humans. These efforts, often invisible behind the data, remind us of the #humanity that fuels our mission. Thank you to the thousands of first responders, community partners, and teammates who are putting their own lives on hold to help those impacted rebuild theirs. ?? Read Esther’s thoughts about the importance of staying focused on humanity at the forefront of disaster relief efforts in our new #Perspectives series, which explores the viewpoints and opinions of thought leaders and experts across Unite Us. #hurricanerelief #disasterresponse #UniteUs #carecoordination

We extend our heartfelt support to all those affected by Hurricane Helene's devastating impact. To help provide relief, we’ve partnered with several state and federal agencies, as well as local community-based organizations. Disaster recovery starts immediately after an event. As residents begin the process of rebuilding their communities, seeking assistance should be a positive step forward, alleviating stress rather than adding to it. Enhancing local resilience during and after emergencies is strengthened by: ? Coordinated response efforts between government agencies, nonprofits, and local communities ? Secure systems for tracking assistance requests, ensuring transparency and accountability in relief distribution ? Accessible and clear communication channels to keep residents informed in real time ? Comprehensive disaster preparedness education and training for all community members ? Programs focused on rebuilding infrastructure with sustainability and future risk mitigation in mind We have proven experience helping communities rebuild after the devastating effects of natural disasters. In the wake of the 2022 hurricane season, we activated our closed-loop referral system and network of community partners within 24 hours, supporting tens of thousands of residents in the affected communities. Let’s remember the importance of staying prepared and working together in the face of disasters like this. ??
